  1. At Bescot we where known as "Trainload Freight West Midlands" . I was a trainman D at the time and I did a swop with a shunter from another local yard for one of their nifty orange and blue all weather rain jackets which had a Trainload freight West midlands logo on it . Had a few jobs second manning (Trainman D) or driving at Bescot usually on the night ferry turn or when spare taking 08's off the depot to various locations , Washwood Heath , Saltley , Tyseley , Oxley , Wolves Steel , Those weren't too bad but the bad ones where Rugby via Nuneaton or Crewe ! Nose first usually kept the loco's cool but cab first and you had to watch the engine temps . More rarer on daytime shifts though Wednesbury , Washwood Heath and Saltley where easily done if needed , Though a PITA if you ended up following one over the Sutton Park line !

  4. Searched on Google for 86222 NSE and found an entry in Google books for Pip Dunns "British Rail Main Line Locomotives Specification Guide" 86221 has NSE flashes under it's numbers while in IO , While 86222 has NSE branding and flashes while in B
  5. Looks like a wired crossover though unusable for electric traction you can see it better in these other pics . There are a few pics on Flickr taken at Ardwick from various photographers showing the crossover between the DC and AC fitted lines and there's a double set of insulators on both the contact and catenary wires . Would of made a mess if a pantograph had tried to run along that section of catenary !
