  1. The traditional lines of scrap but you would have thought that the small shunter in photo 4 would be useful around the place. The last time I'd heard of the BoB it was at Bury, is it going to be restored? Regards
  2. I think the time has come to build the inland route which has been bruited so often. The effects of climate change are here, now and it's not going to get better. Regards
  3. Has anybody taken one apart? I'm thinking of buying an example of 9017 for conversion because I've always had an affection for the Cambrian ... what diameter axles are used throughout and how are the pickups designed? Thanks
  4. A 'Cross Pennine' dmu. I have particularly good memories of these because they used to take me to Liverpool and the Cavern! Not to mention the views of Edge Hill Cutting from the front seat behind the driver - now that was spectacular! Regards
  5. A fair few on Ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=class+59&_osacat=122601&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313&_nkw=class+59&_sacat=122601 I suppose I could have looked there before I made my post! Sorry. I get the impression that this model isn't recommended; pity, the 59 has always been a favourite. Regards
  6. Was a 4mm RTR model ever made of these engines? Regards
  7. A Kirtley D/F 0-6-0 would be nice as would any number of LNWR smaller engines with rolling stock. Regards
  8. Again, wheel splashers are oversize. Is it too late for them to be moulded separately? Regards
  9. Are my eyes deceiving me or is that splasher a bit big?
  10. Oh Dear! It looks as though Bachmann has made a pigs-ear out of the last three LMS Group engines, certainly as far as the finescale community are concerned. Just out of interest, what are the coupled axle centres on the model? Regards PS thanks to davefrk for his reply too.
  11. Would you like to be more specific? Regards
  12. Thanks for that. To do a conversion to P4 you have to take off the keeper plate so as to replace the wheels and axles and having done so I can see nothing that will cause the problem. Fortunately it isn't so noticeable at the very slow speeds the unit will be called upon to do. If it does really become an issue then Branchlines and Replica Railways do very good replacement power bogies, but at a price! Regards
  13. I currently converting two Bachmann Class 108 dmus and the drive bogies have the same arrangement of a pyramid of gears. One works OK the other 'chugs' a little. When you bear in mind the effect of engineering tolerances on such an assembly it doesn't come as a surprise that performance is variable, but then a complete two car unit retails at less than £100 and a Blackbeetle power bogie alone retails at around £87. Regards
  14. That's a little discouraging, particularly the bit about having to remove metal from inside the tanks. Sounds as though a milling machine is required. Thanks for your posts so far and please continue! Regards
  15. That's a black tarpaulin the other shots are of a creamy-yellow. Were there any other colours? Regards
  16. AFAIK the answer is yes especially if Keighley is near enough (and the LYR did run into York). Regards
  17. First I've heard of this adhesive, see http://www.cyberbond1.com/adhesives/methyl-methacrylate-adhesives.aspx Regards
  18. Perhaps I've been at the back of the class here, but why is there such a gap in numbering ie 70/0 and 70/8? Regards
  19. I think it's fairer to say that it is partially, selectively covered. Regards
  20. Is that one of the Leeds 'Feltham' trams acquired from LT? Regards
  21. It might also permit the use of splashers that are the right size, although I do have some sympathy for Bachmann in that the Midland didn't leave much of a clearance inside their splashers. Regards
  22. Thank you for that, now on order from Amazon. The EE shunters used to deliver the concrete trains to Northenden, I can remember watching one shunting at the yard, but I don't know from which direction they came ie Edgeley Jc or Tiviot Dale which might have a bearing on which shed they belonged too (but then I'm pretty sure 9B didn't have any of the EE shunters). I can also remember a Black 5 doing the same. Regards
  23. Michael, http://www.flickr.com/photos/blue-diesels/5669347098/in/set-72157626406560965/ There is a photo here which shows the steam lance fitting reasonably well and it appears to be standard with those fitted to the Stanier locos. I wonder if anybody does a casting? Regards
