  1. And installed on the platform. Still needs bedding down a bit, but that's not so obvious when viewing. Bridport Town will be at Weston Super Mare this Sunday, Weston Show Is anyone coming?
  2. Just had a good catchup, lovely modelling! Cheers, Dave.
  3. I would definitely use the SEFinecast chassis kit (described as U/U1) a much newer product, and an improvement in many ways. See my version Cheers, Dave.
  4. I would want to "beef up" that motion bracket, as a single etch it looks a bit flimsy. I would also add another support for the expansion link behind it, so that the screw goes through both, into a nut soldered to the rear. Then the expansion link sits between them and is better supported. Then you could add a support for the rear end of the slidebar as well. I hope the (very rough) sketch shows the idea. The Finecast chassis came with a rather nice brass casting for the motion bracket, with a u-shaped etch to support the link. I still did the same though, drilled right through the bracket and soldered a nut on the rear. All the best, Dave.
  5. I have a steam roller on my layout, without driver or steerage chain. If I get asked where the chain is, I say "the driver has gone to look for it"
  6. I think will have to do:
  7. Hi Don, Yes I think you're generally right, problem is I've only got two sizes of lettering available! There do seem to be many variations in size and letter spacing, possibly depending on the length of the names, or amount of information needed. Several examples can be seen: here, Here, Here, Here and Here. And a chat about the subject on RMweb Here
  8. Lovely stuff Tim, and great to see you back modelling. Best wishes and a Happy New Year, Dave.T
  9. Here's a screen-grab of what I WAS getting:
  10. Its working for me this morning.
  11. Time for some more agonising decision making about small details! Replacing the GW station nameboard, made with Slaters lettering with something more authentic. Thanks to Stubby47 for pointing out the laser-cut alphabets from Scale Model Scenery I have what they claim to be the 4mm scale set, and they're already bigger than than the original: So the nameboard is being simplified, or it's size will dwarf the space its in. I know these things are big, so I've tried a few variations to see how they look: I think bottom right is the favourite from a space/size point of view. Whether it's "correct" I can't really say, as there seem to be many variations. Also the style was used by the GW from about 1930 onwards I think, before that it was a different lettering style on a blue background. But I'm no expert, this is more of a question for Wenlock or Bulwell Hall to comment on. Several variations at Maiden Newton on Disused Stations
  12. Still can't upload, I've tried uploading photos that have already been uploaded, so its not the files. All files uploading to other forums ok as well, so I don't think its my end. Dave.
  13. Still getting either a 2/3 upload or message: "Sorry, an unknown server error occurred when uploading this file. (Error code: -200)" So is this your end or mine? I'll try a complete restart later, got to rush out now.
  14. I'm getting that message today, even tried uploading photos that are already displayed and it wont do it. What was the problem that you found? Thanks Dave.
  15. Thanks very much Andy, sounds like I must be doing something right! I've always set out to be mundane and everyday, although at times I think I've missed the mark. It started looking very "busy" on Sunday afternoon at Warley, with umpteen locos outside the shed, a Garratt pulling two-coach trains etc, etc.
  16. Seeing as you can't tell where three dimensions become two, i would say you are pretty good at it!

    Bleddfa Road

Not sure why this topic has passed me by. but I'm having a good catchup. Giving me lots of ideas, and looks very good in MRJ too. Lovely work, thanks for sharing. Dave.
  20. Hi Graham, There are many outlets via Amazon or Ebay, and they all get a mixture of 5 and 1-star reviews. I THINK I remember getting from B&Q, and there seem to be different thicknesses. I'll dig out the remains of my roll and check it. Even though it looks great on the roll, its very difficult to get it stuck completely flat and you end up with a slightly mottled finish. For this purpose though, that's ok.
  21. Finally, the street disappearing into the backscene at the station end. It's loosely based on the view down Gundry Lane from South Street. The perspective looks a bit odd in the photos, but you don't notice it when you see it in three dimensions. Anyway, I'm not changing it again! Not sure if its obvious, but the end boards are now covered with self-adhesive vinyl mirror. It works very well at the level-crossing end, but not so well here. I've ended up with some very thin-looking buildings.
