  1. if he's from the Shropshire he may just be about to "put a pig upon a wall to watch the band go by"
  2. they look quite good, the blue circle tanks are especially fine looking. think i would be tempted if i were to use them to paint the shanks and hook tips, to look like a dotted or solid line though, as the wagons now look like they are drawn along by magic.... "there is just no pleasing some people, is there!!!!"
  3. Gah, Gloucestershire, guess thats another reason to buy one. Wonder if some one will prove it with a picture?
  4. Looking at the komatsu's chassis has got me wondering how hard would it be to use that for producing a Coles Argus yard crane?
  5. I expect he can, but can I interest you in a home loan to finance the purchase of it if its made in one lump ????
  6. I would like to see more departmental stock and on track plant, you know the the olive greenies, Engineers red, yellow perils and Dutch beasites especially from the 70's/80's. I'd be happy if the things were dummies/unpowered as a lot of the time they are just siding fillers or diorama stars. If you were looking to hire in talented sub contract designers, there's a couple of guys in the 3d printing thread are doing brilliant stuff.
  7. Your going to need a bigger layout, to get a complete line replace working diorama at this rate. Perhaps you could borrow Drem and close the Eastcoast mainline for a bank holiday possession???!!!
  8. I model BR Blue, as this is what I remember as a kid train spotting in the mid 70's. I've stretched it a bit to include the start of Red Stripe, Dutch and hanger on green. RULE 1 applied.
  9. I bought this book after seeing it mentioned on here, Money well spent. More interested in the lines closer to the city, but the forest lines are still of interest. Hope they bring out more in the series soon, would certainly buy a book that covers more Central & Eastgate Stations, Tuffley Loop & Junction and shared lines to the south.
  10. probably didnt look much better before either, those sleepers look a bit rotten.
  11. i think he buys that yellow paint in 5ltr tins, hope he's not done the whole house in engineers yellow.......
  12. David if the electrical flash stickers are a known standard size, can you use that to work out the overall height dimensions from an average of the source images?
  13. print them 1mm thick and then stick them in the etch solution till they are the fineness required.... ok lots of trial and error required to time the dip just right..
  14. David i cant believe you do all these excellent cad models in sketchup, your either a masochist or a genius. I have even more respect for your skills now.
  15. anything similar to be found in the http://www.barrowmoremrg.co.uk diagram books, or are they too modern?
  16. I put the second one up for the others to see the difference really.... but glad you liked the first. I've got the 00 MJJ wagon kit to "shrink" for N, as the 12 wheeler version, in my todo pile. Struck trying to get the standalone flask done first. (small children and broken laptops are not helping!)
  17. Heres a 3/4 top view of the French wagon http://images.alternet.org/images/AFP/photo_1322226654192-1-0.jpg edit: just found this looking for more images to show the differences, nice 00 model isn't it. http://s374444733.websitehome.co.uk/kua/index.htm
  18. I cant believe that neither GF or Dapol have even mooted doing a rail crane. I'd be up for a pair of 75 C&S cranes, wallet willing of course. Might even buy the kirov just for a laugh and paint it yellow, ok its out of my era, but i'm applying rule 1. Beside i've already got most of the other N Gauge cranes already. Tried to get whiteboar fell in another tread interested in trying his R&R 45 toner in N, dont think they were very interested the OO version looks great tho.
  19. well its is really, they are your cad files. Shapeways will only print whats been uploaded, so if you upload OO scale that's all you get. OK, some of the finer detail wont probably print, I think the limit of resolution with FUD is about .5mm or .3mm if your lucky, so a couple of N inches. I guess you could make the CAD files available (to buy), so that other could tinker with them and add or subtract detail depending on their chosen scale. The only thing I've drawn and put on Shapeways so far is a single Ground Position Signal/light in N, working on a sprue of them to make it more cost effective, and I'm also trying to get some fiber optic feeds into them. I tend to draw full scale if i've got a proper engineering drawings to work from and then get the CAD package to scale it down to 1:148 for me.
  20. hi wild boar fell, i've got what is supposed to be a R&R 45 ton in N, but the its so wrong, chassis and match wagon wise. I've got a lot of bits for redoing the match wagons & crane chassis(sourced a 4 wheel tender chassis), any chance if you put your models up for public printing you can do a 1:148 option as well as the OO?
  21. yup looks like an R&R 45 ton or possible a 36 ton. more than enough rivets to count on here http://www.bdca.org.uk/index.html
  22. nice model bmthtrains - David, far too contemporay for me, but would be sorely tempted. are you going to keep it in ex works condition or add the usual in use muck, grease and filth to it?
  23. does this mean we can see a new variant of the Dapol nem couplers, ie the ultra short, in the production pipeline?
