If your zeal for detail includes pipe runs and such, beware of following preserved examples too slavishly. Most have been in preservation longer than they were in service and many have detail mods, (for sound engineering reasons I'm sure) not seen during their first lives.

That is already on the to-do list. I buy a roll or two of the foil/bubble/foil whenever the DIY sheds have it on offer. I have started to fit some in the main house loft too. This will improve the overall insulation of the house and reduce the seasonal variations in the loft space which will be better for all the stuff stored there.

Hi Mikkel,
Early 1950s. Bomb damage and wartime neglect, railways under pressure, not chocolate box roses-round-the-waiting-room door GWR at all !

Just got the squashed coke cans, apple cores, newspapers, old bicycle wheels to add then
On a constructive note, BR ballast (1971) was graded not to pass through 1/2" but must pass through 2+1/2" hole.

A Blog is a contraction of the two words, weB LOG. It is intended to be an on-line diary for you to share your railway modelling exploits with the rest of the community. Other forums an social networking web sites allow you to share other aspects of your life in a similar way. If you dont intend to do this pm Andy as he suggests.

Consider the function. The loco crew must be able to reach the apparatus when running through. The signalman must be able to place and retrieve the tokens quickly to expedite the regulation of trains. The real railway had a 'signal siting committee', whom I have accompanied, to make the least worst compromise when choosing a signal position. I imagine a similar process would apply for siting the token apparatus.
