  1. Hi AMJ, Thanks for the tip, unfortunately my soldering isn't really up to scratch but I will bear that in mind if I do ever get good at it. Re the forum areas, I did debate posting in DCC but decided to post here, sort of tossed a coin to decide where to put it. I'll bear your advice in mind next time. Cheers JB
  2. Thanks for that Steve and thanks to rest of you who have commented. I've set the 47 up now and here's a video thank you to all who helped me this morning/evening (I'm in NZ).
  3. I actually have a confession to make, I usually hang out at another well-known forum and asked the same question yesterday and have yet to receive any replies. For you guys to be replying within 10 minutes of posting is actually very impressive! So I apologise for not hanging here as much as I should, and in the future I shall make RMWeb my modelling forum of choice. Who knows, I may also be answering some questions instead of just asking them!! :-)
  4. I've popped the speaker out of the black plastic box and it now will fit fine as it's only about four mm from top to bottom with the box removed. Just wondering if I can now just blutak it to the bottom of the recess? Speaker leads won't be a problem as far as I can tell. On the underside of the speaker is a central metal base, can I affix this to the recess bottom with blu-tak? Or should I look to be fixing the metal surround to the recess in some way. It's just that the mtal base is the only part of the speaker that touches the recess floor when the speaker is in the recess. The metal surround is a few mm off the recess floor.
  5. @steve I'm not too sure what you mean by the baffle box? I've uploaded a photo, do you mean the black plastic and metal surround that makes the speaker square? To prise the speaker out, would I just insert a small screwdriver in the small hole at the very bottom of the speaker between the speaker and black plastic surround in the photo? Once I've got the speaker out how would I fix it in place inside the loco? Sorry for all the questions but this is the first time I've had to do this kind of thing and destroying a 100 pound speaker/decoder is not the way I want to start the weekend :-) just trying to make sure I get it right @AMJ Yeah I've removed the fan (black and red plastic bit on left) and I still don't quite have enough room.
  6. Hi all, I've trying to install an SWD sound decoder in a Bachmann Class 47 and I'm struggling a bit space-wise. I've spotted the speaker recess in the main part of the engine in which the speaker fits lengthways and widthways, however it seems 'too tall' for the recess? When I replace the body I cannot slide the body down far enough to 'clip' into place as the speaker hits the underside of the roof? Anybody come across this too and found a solution?? Cheers JB
