  1. Could you post a link please as I'm struggling to find the seller on EBay. Douglas
  2. In my time (late '70s and early '80s) there were up to 3 loco hauled stopping trains a day between Newcastle and Edinburgh (and v.v.) calling at pretty much every station including the likes of Manors, Pegswood and Chathill. Formations could be up to 9 or 10 Mark 1s though mostly 6 or 7. Motive power would be anything that Gateshead kicked out (31, 37, 40, 46, 47 or 55). Douglas
  3. Very sad news indeed, such a nice chap and very helpful to me over the years. Douglas
  4. No, 2023, so not too long. Was hoping they might be in the first batch which is due this month.
  5. Spoke to the SLW office yesterday, the new 25/1 should be on the website 'in a couple of weeks' but they did take my order for one over the phone. Disappointingly, the first two I ordered (D7552 and D7666) are in the batch that won't be here until the end of the year 😪 Douglas
  6. Forgive me for being pedantic, is it not Redesmouth? I wish you luck, I do have a soft spot for both the Border Counties and the 'Wanny'. Douglas
  7. Forgive the shameless plug, here's one on the WCML on a southbound van train.
  8. As I understand it there has been quite bad water ingress on at least one of the coaches, no doubt the one mentioned in the previous post with the tarp on the roof. I don't know if it's changed since I left DB but it was always referred to as the 'Company Train'. Douglas
  9. If I've missed it my apologies, but has there been any mention of 'drop in' EM/P4 wheelsets being available for these? Douglas
  10. Got to know Gareth during my time with EWS/DB, a real gentleman and a master of his craft. Time spent in his company was never dull, he had an endless supply of great stories. RIP Gareth.

  15. 67012 heads the ‘Safeway Express’, 4D65 15:12 Inverness to Mossend as it approaches Greenhill Lower on the 4th of July 2003.
  16. I have a photo taken at Doncaster on 23/7/89 of 91005 departing with 1A24, the 15:23 Hull to Kings Cross blunt end first on Mk2 stock. I don't know whether it was being used for driving training or whether this was a diagrammed working, but it was certainly a revenue earning WTT service. Douglas
  17. Sorry if I'm being a pest @Jack P, did you manage to sort out any pictures? Thanks, Douglas
  18. According to my 1987 IRS handbook, it looks like a Rolls Royce, built at the Sentinel Works at Shrewsbury, works number 10274 built in 1968. Rolls Royce took over from Sentinel. Hope this helps. Douglas
  19. Thanks @Jack P that would be extremely helpful, much appreciated. Douglas
  20. A quick question for @Jack P re; EM conversion. Did you completely remove the brake shoes or manage to get them trimmed? Mine arrived yesterday and I spent an hour or so gently probing and fiddling to see how to convert them to EM. Has anyone else managed it and if so, how did you do it? Many thanks in advance for any responses. Douglas
  21. Railtour passengers mill about in the snow at Penyffordd during a photo stop on the North West Rambler No. 2, 13th of January 1979.
  22. 47203 was my last one for sight. OT I know, but it brought back a memory 😁 Douglas
