  1. Are there any point machines yet? Or are the turnouts clipped & locked? Open Railway map has some of the track shown. Railcam has a basic track layout shown but no signalling.
  2. VRF featured Russellville AR on it's Grab bag, quite impressive, it was also the location of a mass wedding (not on VRF!) shown on BBC TV news.
  3. Sadly not: "Iron plate rails mounted on stone blocks ― the Derby Canal Railway." I presume the flange is on the inside as it's less likely to go out of gauge by spreading whilst in use.
  4. Light blue touch paper and..........inhale........
  5. Thanks Iain I did look at the various versions but couldn't see any mention of a basic "demo" mode. With TC I have used it s a sort of layout planning software at times, trying out different combinations of track elements to see how they would work together. A bit like using Scarm or similar without the properly scaled parts. Neater than pencil & paper though. It doesn't seem to time out when doing that but does if you connect to the DCC system. However plugging in the license key seems to reset it!
  6. It is revealed after 30 seconds, at which point I bailed out.😃
  7. Not quite true. The station has never officially closed and the rail service is "temporarily" suspended. The DG bus provides the official rail replacement service while the service is suspended. Service may return in the future. Edit. I notice the top layer of flagstones has been removed from one platform.
  8. Does iTrain have a demo mode where you can tinker about to your heart's content without a trial license, which appears to have a finite time limit? With Traincontroller, I can play around seemingly forever perfecting a track layout, as long as it doesn't connect to a computer, when it seems the time limit kicks in.
  9. Horses Trainspotting. That's a new one on me.🙂
  10. Hardly Without the person that keeps the design in his head (or so it seems) it's worthless, as no more sales would be possible without the assurance of continued maintenance, which seems unlikely.
  11. Probably noticed the dwindling sales.🙂
  12. The car thieves around there must carry spare wheels with them...............😁
  13. Are you sure that this isn't a railway viaduct that has tipped over, with the bonus of creating a reservoir? 😄
  14. What we have at Bartley is a structure across a natural valley, through which a stream once ran and filled with water from the Elan valley system. The rest of the perimeter is defined by the contours of the land.
  15. I am currently building a second layout (the first is far from finished☹️) which will be fully DCC controlled and am considering trying iTrain. Some automated use is possible. The layout is an end to end shunting layout running from a yard to various business and is US 1960s/70s period. It will be a shelf layout approx 31' long around 2 walls of my railway room and 16" wide My other layout uses TC gold V9, I have been with it since the early days of version 7 but at the current cost IMHO, it's not worth updating to V10. I could add another switchboard for the second layout but as I have a spare Win 11 machine and DCC system, it would give me an opportunity to see what iTrain is like. BTW Herr Freiwald has stated that if Freiwald software was to close for any reason an unlocking key (or unlocked version?) would be posted online for anyone to use.
  16. Don't give the government ideas about maximising use of the the railway..........😁
  17. Seeing the Royal Liver building reminds me: Does anybody realise the "Liver Birds" were made in Bromsgrove? A town better known for making nails. So were the fancy gates on the front of Buckingham Palace.
  18. It's across a disused airfield, part of which is being tunnelled under was used for car parking. Most of the rest seems to have no special ecological value:
  19. Hi all Today I had a leaflet through the door from "EE (Powered by BT)" , inviting me to change over to Full Fibre now. Great I thought, with a fair bit of doubt in my mind.😕 Just been onto the BT full fibre checker to see whether things had suddenly changed recently. No, they haven't, our area isn't even in the up to 2026 period for full fibre plans. So it's approaching 3 years away at the minimum. Don't EE talk to their masters at BT?☹️
  20. Bachmann ruined the Collett Goods by removing a large amount of metal to install a DCC socket, rather than update the ancient tender and put the decoder there. It now wont pull the proverbial skin off a rice pudding, the OR DG is better. I put the metal back and converted the tender instead.(x2)
  21. I haven't got a single RTR loco that will haul 15 coaches, Six new M&C coaches are a lot heavier and a bit more "draggy" than others and probably close to 9 or 10 typical coaches. The N class is one of few locos that will pull them reliably, as will a Accurascale Manor. Hornby new 61XX & Dapol Mogul are useless, with no pulling power at all.
  22. You are talking rubbish. The Elan Valley reservoirs have dams across the end, whether they block a watercourse or not is irrelevant, it's still a dam. Bartley reservoir has a dam at the NE end that's what they call the earth mound across the end.
  23. Accurascale don't seem to get much criticism and they have done this: Unfortunately in the close position shown , there isn't quite enough opening up on my 36" -ish curves
