A non-Insulfrog Code 100 double slip would be nice, it must be said. Or even a new "medium" curved point...
-
...and yours for £650 for a full set. 🫣 I wonder how many half-sets are being preordered. I "um" and "ah".
-
The R2398 body does - I was also under the impression that the Stanier 4P shared the same later chassis, but the rear fixing (at least) doesn't fit the R2398 one, so I suppose the very latest Fowlers might also be incompatible.

Similar reasoning, Shirley? 🙂 I thought the CR Pug used the same chassis as the GWR Holden 101 - either developed at the same time or before - which despite the Swindon Golden Ticket was not only out of scale, but a unique and short-lived prototype? At least you can stick a scale chassis under the Pug if you choose. As to Accurascale, I'd personally crave something pre-1955, units-aside something like a LMS jackshaft shunter.

How to trigger a ‘serious’ enthusiast…
Mark Dickerson replied to MrTea's topic in Modelling musings & miscellany
I thought they looked like the little Shadow ships from Babylon 5, which (apparently) have been referred to as Spitfires - which was news to me. Though quite why they would be the go-to image for AI rather than more common images of "spitfire", I suppose might be influenced by your preconceptions of AI software designers and users... 😉 -
Mass cull of ticket offices
Mark Dickerson replied to newbryford's topic in UK Prototype Discussions (not questions!)
I wonder if the new ticket office at Reading West will ever open. More to the point, I wonder if the barriers at Reading West will ever shut... Still, I suppose one could go one station along to Reading Green Park in the meantime and enjoy the future (and the many local attractions - like a footbridge 🙃). -
[Don't tell him, Pike!] Quite. After Only Fools and Horses, I can see Hornby getting a bit WW2 - and why do miniatures necessarily have to be military?
-
One might almost say They're doooomed. 😏 (Note the IP licences. No, not Dredd.)
-
No, but I can whisper subliminal messages if you like: Why did I buy this tosh? Why did they think this was a good idea? Will this match the Taw Valley Model and that Bachmann China South Manchurian Railway tank engine thing? Why's my tea on the floor? (BTW if Faller were to release an HO Oxford-Didcot replacement bus service model that played funereal music - or even just muffled sobbing - I'd be more interested in commemorating that particular "once in a lifetime event"...)

I'm sure GW fans might go a "meaningful" shade of purple when they see that Hall, too... 🤢

Metropolitan Railway E Class - Met No.1
Mark Dickerson replied to rapidoandy's topic in Rapido Trains
Looking at the 1888 Act to extend to Oxford, which appears to stipulate a maximum speed of 8 MPH (if I read it correctly), that doesn't surprise me. Might be faster than some contemporary Oxford rush hours though... -
Metropolitan Railway E Class - Met No.1

Then again, you don't have to be that old to have seen a working E Class, let alone ridden behind one. I thought the variety of A Class and derivatives had counted against Rapido considering them(?) -
Metropolitan Railway E Class - Met No.1

That's a shame - I was planning to visit soon (although I think I've been since it shrank). Even so: potential Shiny Thing for tourists with deeper pockets (who probably won't be bothered by the lack of period stock). -
Metropolitan Railway E Class - Met No.1

As they've now taken out LNWR Oerlikons as well as the entire Underground category, I can only hope this Only Way To Win Is Not To Play strategy continues to bear fruit... 😛 Hopefully good news for the LT Museum Shop, too. -

My sort of false-jeopardy-and-icon-related announcement... 😁 Wow. +1 to Dreadnoughts, but it could haul quite a lot more in preservation. -
Hope springs eternal... 🙄

Hornby Bagnall pocket rocket.
Mark Dickerson replied to cypherman's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
There was a line to the effect of "it still needs some work" at the end I think - so (with the Magic of TV light flashing away merrily) we shall see what eventually appears. -
I'm still running mine in - slow speed yet to be examined in detail but a little stuttering over pointwork on DC and it didn't like some of my temporary track - horrors such as a random Lima curve and Fleischmann extendable track section. It's improving and very smooth generally (and a little tweaking of the bogie may help I suspect), but I must say I'm surprised that the pickups are so limited. If you're going to supply an installed speaker surely you'd want to maximize electrical contacts?
