  1. Should be pretty good as the battery is mounted low in the floor pan thus bringing the CoG down, then again it might not even get the the Elk test speed Edit: Just watched the video…I take it all back…..how did that get out the gates? WTF did Citroen do during development?
  2. The Smart was also a contender for the “oops an Elk” test indeed, I am pretty sure that why the Smart came out with the staggered tyre arrangement most of them have, but they may well have done more stuff, I didn’t hear much about the Smart at the time, not on our radar back then, completely wrong* segment. *unique?
  3. Let’s hope so, I guess we’ll need to wait and see……and yes I really do hope so because at last Hornby have grasped a nettle with their new steam system and been truly innovative.
  4. looks like that passed the 100 metre drop test let alone the two metre! Who was the delivery agent?
  5. You forget to order an AS Class 37? Go sit in the corner for thirty minutes…..
  6. Looks like it may have rubbed on a suspension component for some reason, or at least you got something stuck between tyre and suspension to do that damage, unlikely to be a static fail as it’s torn in two places with good rubber between. Run over a Croc on the way home did you?
  7. I used to watch it with my Son first time when he was probably only about 6, he is now in his mid thirties and cannot wait for my delivery of the both packs (sound) so he can come and play trains, but he did mention last weekend that my layout is missing a river……..I think I did a good job there
  8. I wouldn’t use it on the rail heads TBH as it really is a grease and not a contact cleaner which will evaporate quite quickly and leave a non greasy conductive residue, I used “copaslip” in the fishplates on our LGB garden railway and it remained untroubled without further attention* for 15 years…..good stuff. *after winter all we did was run the LGB track cleaner Loco around a few times to make the rail heads shiney’ish again, but sometimes I just ran the Mallet around for a few hours and the track pick up wipers did the same job, brass track is really good stuff.
  9. So we cannot include a TR6 in the classic cars section?
  10. It wasn’t a hardware (apart from damping adjustment) change just software in the stability system, it made the car much “duller” to drive but cured the swerve oversteer kickback instability. Pretty sure they didn’t even change the spring rates. Juergen Hubbert was the lead engineer.
  11. I would think the 4X4 version would (could) become a bit of a classic, and quite useful. I hope your investment proves fruitful
  12. Your choice of course, we have been using them for over a decade and thankfully never had to use it for any kind of insurance evidence which is what it’s only purpose for us is, only once did I get asked if I could show footage to the police (we were all stopped at a pedestrian crossing when a motorbike overtook the oncoming traffic and almost knocked over a pram and mother crossing) otherwise everything recorded just gets overwritten every four hours. It certain doesn’t sadden and depress me if I film an idiot coming from a side turning without looking into our carriageway
  13. The first two weeks you definitely won’t be over doing the exercises, but once you get on your two pins as normal be careful not to over do it, stick to the written therapy….after a year or even six months you can start to wear it out again at your leisure!
  14. A lot of “fettling” was done throughout its life to the front suspension to get it to handle reasonably. One of my cops mates thought his old Minor patrol car handled better, didn’t go as fast though.
  15. Well it’s one of the official Hornby press shots…….make of that what you will.
  16. And the scar is almost neat and tidy too, although our GP nurse who took the staples out said she had never taken thirty one out of a knee before Dont worry, that didn’t hurt either.
  17. I had my right knee replaced last year, smack bang in the middle of the lockdowns, it was opportune actually as instead of being carried out in the general hospital I was put into the local Nuffield Hospital (because of the precautions at the main hospital), I had the initial diagnosis in late 2019 and was told both knees needed replacement as severely worn (40 years of walking around carrying heavy camera gear ) , anyhoo the important bit was it went perfectly, I had heard some horror stories but my story was the hospital was like a hotel, lovely…..they gave me the choice of spinal or general and they recommended spinal (they won’t recommend but I asked if it was their choice what would they have) , I had spinal which initially was a bit odd and frightening for a few minutes as you just cannot move your legs, horrible….but then the other “juice” gets going and you feel great and that’s it…..although I do remember waking slightly during the op….no feeling or pain at all just remember seeing the sheet in front of me my foot high up and a lot of noise, the. I fell asleep again and that was it until recovery, apparently sometimes the sleepy juice needs another “push” but I thought it was quite funny and my surgeon did when I asked him if he was assembling a flat pack wardrobe it was that noisy! Recovery went well, I was in for three days then home…..two crutches for the first week, one crutch the second and then walking stick for another week then I was wobbling around fine, after two months it felt like it had never happened and it’s been perfect ever since, no aches, no pains and I am actually looking forward to getting the other one done. I did “most” of the exercises given but I feel the most important exercise was the straight leg stretching and forcing (gently with your own muscles) your knee back while laying flat/sitting……it is apparently the tightening of the muscles which cause most issues and stiffness. My first visit post op to the surgeon after six weeks was a surprise for him I think as he was amazed how straight I could get my leg, easily that same as before (or better). My only trepidation now is my surgeon has now moved back to Essex (he was here as locum) and I won’t get him again. Maybe I shouldn’t have told you about the “wardrobe” incident…but honestly it was funny and just odd and dreamy at the time Good luck, but you shouldn’t need it as my Son (the Doc) said they do three or four a day, they tend to know what goes where.
  18. That was the extra detail they were striving for when visiting the centre for reference…..shame they didn’t notice the carriages were at different heights/tilt at the time
  19. I am not so sure Hornby could afford all that wire required on the curves…
  20. Have you not seen the gas microwaves in Radio Rentals?
  21. Absolutely, but they could have just not bothered with the house TBH and keep safe.
  22. The police I knew hated the Marinas because of the understeer, they reckoned of they ever needed to follow somebody they just radioed Traffic and parked up
