Bow pen might work.
Hi Martin,
I have been struggling to hone my bow pen, but recent saw a YouTube by @MikeTrice that helped me to at least get it working. So will give that a go
I also tried Rotring drawing pens - I think they are black lines you can see in the photo, which are okay.
Halfords do a paint pack (damask red) with a fine tip applicator for stone chips and scratches - see below. But the paint flows too quickly for this application
Otherwise, I used a very fine (000) brush, but it is really slow and keeps drying out so has to be cleaned after a few minutes.
Where the mouldings are crisp it is possible to get okay results. I shall keep persevering!

Depending on the size and fit of course, but Shawplan etched frames and Laserglaze windows might simplify things?
Mike.
Thanks Mike,
I haven't used either product so I will need to investigate

1. After painting, the glazing is a real struggle to fit into the window apertures - just not sure how best to get it to fit - enlarge the window apertures or file down the glazing
2. Painting the vent frames on glazing material is a right PITA - the mouldings are not clean and its difficult to apply the paint consistently and accurately.
3. The glazing material is very thick and appears to be quite prismatic - even before it is installed on the coach
Apologies for the bump, but do RMWebbers have any suggestions on these questions - I am especially frustrated with the issue of trying to paint the frames on the windows - see below
Many thanks (in advance) for any suggestions!

So March turned out to be a good one, month on month overall production doubled to 224KWH, which was 10% more than March 2023. :-)
But, the financial benefit was marginal as prices have come down. :-|

Try https://www.wizardmodels.ltd/ for both =- they do steps and sandboxes for a few £

A request, please.
Does anyone have a spare Bachmann B1 tender body for sale, please? It needs to be in BR lined black (the BR device doesn't matter - early or later).
The reason for this need is that I sprayed a Bachmann V2 BR lined green tender body this morning with Halfords car rattle can acrylic satin black, and it 'attacked' the lining/BR device; it just blistered! I've cleaned it off, but rather nasty marks have been left and re-spraying hasn't disguised these (do you see why I usually leave painting to those who know what they're doing?). I've never come across this reaction before - not with acrylic.
I'm happy to buy a complete tender if necessary.
I recall at one show, a trader selling RTR tender bodies (including Bachmann B1s), but who and where are lost in the mists of time.
Many thanks in anticipation.
Hi @Tony Wright
EKM had a bunc h of them at AllyPally at the weekend. ~£10 for BR Black loco body and tender I think! You can reach them at ekmx23@gmail.com or 07922 403608 (Mon-Thurs 10am-4pm)

And rucksacks should be banned…..
I agree - they are an pain.
I ended up pushing them out of the way whilst saying "excuse me", got some filthy looks but it was ridiculous.
I will confess that I also had a small backback, but I carry it by my side so as not to inconvenience others.

The coach will be primed before the glazing goes in.
I have a few of these coaches in my collection, but their construction has stalled a the glazing stage. I have 3 concerns:
Any suggestions on how best to address these challenges would be gratefully received.

Speaking of relisting and ebay madness, I have noticed quite a few unsold items being relisted with a higher price!
If an item is unsold and you want to sell, wouldn't you reduce the price?
I also assume listing fees apply if the item is unsold?

their buy back price is 30p
Are you sure?
That means their buy back rate is more than the current unit price (~28p per unit).
Remember, the unit rate will also come down ~15% from April 1st, which will dilute the returns/benefits further.

Jim,
I prefer to calculate the return on investment. Based on the lowest quoted return (£825) and assuming you have £9800 of capital to "invest", you will get a return of 8.4%.
Only you will know if that is good value, based on what that your £9800 has been earning for the last few years.
The cost of installation sounds quite good value, but the returns seem a little conservative - which is not unusual - they prefer to under-sell/over-deliver.
I have a 3.5KWH system with 7 panels and a 3KWH battery that cost £7100 in 2022. In the first 12 months the return was £930, or 12.8%.
It wasn't the largest system we could have had installed, but the survey reasoned that this was the best size of installation based on our consumption needs.
It would appear that bigger is not necessarily better. Some houses round me with 16-20 panels, once you have a production surplus and start feeding it into the grid the returns are a lot less attractive.

Hi Tony,
Do you use bearings on the crankpins for the coupling rods? I have always found it easier to get a chassis to run with them than without.
I also use a deluxe crankpin on the wheel where all the gubbins goes (connecting rod, return crank and eccentric rod). I find it easier to get the return crank in position by soldering it to a nut threaded onto the crankpin.
Thanks

May be this is all a ruse and Hornby will do a second batch that address these problems, making this (faulty) batch highly collectable? 🤨

So, two major kit manufacturers (SEF and DJH) now with Squires.
I wonder if Squires will continue to produce both ranges in full or deduplicate them?
Both ranges features A3's, so it might make sense to produce only one version.

Jeff,
I am really enjoying the GH thread now it has been resurrected.
I looked forward to updates when it had a more earthly focus, but the shift to the lunar landscape is just as fascinating.
Looking forward to May, once you find yourself back in the bunker!

I think I got mine from the National archives. I paid for the service but it was very good. Certainly worth searching via their website
