I found this article very enlightening and useful. Thanks.

Hi,
I recently purchased the YouChoos LMS 4F sound with green No.9 sugarcube and keep-alive and am very pleased with the sound and controlability of the motor. Do you do re blows of Zimo 648 sound decoders? I could do with having my weak chaffing Pannier sound chip reblown with your latest 'Hall' sound and also purchasing your No.9 sugarcube and a keep-alive.

Your Stanier 2-6-4T really looks he bees knees. The driving wheels stand out to me because they are the correct bevel-rim type. I really must get around to replacing Hornby's fowler wheels one day. Layout is looking grand.

Interesting to see your goods shed after BR's painters had been there....

Great news and excellent video of the coal Tank passing Oakworth. I have already built a second ex.LNWR push-pull set in anticipation!

Good clear photos there. Thankfully you have covered ground that got ditched when my coach thread was deleted (I had covered the Roc and Hornby couplings close-coupling options). With the Bachmann 'Porthole' stock, I simply removed some of the NEM box and shoved the couplings further in to them, held by Loctite. And of course raised the bodies on 20thou spacers. What did you find was the minimum radius your coaches will negotiate following close-coupling? It is an issue that raised its head on my layout after 27" radius return loops were introduced. The acid test for me is if a train of coaches can be propelled at high speed over the whole layout without derailing.

With a small set up like Delph, it should add to the interest switching the points by mechanicle means instead of tortoises etc. Let me know when you dieselize and i'll put a bid in for your Fowler 2-6-2T....

The cleaning up looks fine to me, although I feel the boiler bands are too-in-your-face. I tended to darken the boler band lining on some locos, although it wasn't necessary on GWR and BR green locos as my "orange" lining colour was mid tan. Someone once put it in a nutshell...."You shouldn't be able to see the lining from a distance". I agree.

Well impressed...It looks Heeland!

Ratio bogies are no great shakes really....I made my own brass patterns for casting replacements, though I have yet to use any of my MR 10ft lightweight bogies.

Trouble with blogs is they keep missing the radar, which is why I missed these updates. The layout has come on fantastically well and I must say you don't do things by half. That control panel for instance. It was a good idea to incorporate Delph New Road into front of the layout as it puts the railway into its environs (I could only incorporate Shaw Hall Bank Road retaining wall due to lack of squeezing space in the shed). The baseboard top is grey...Did you spray this before laying track?

Not sure if you'll see this but a little nugget of info... 40061 was regular engine on the Delph Goods.

Methodical is a religion and scares the hell out of me Dave! I'm a lapsed idiot and Peco track for idiots sits me fine. Good to see your update though.

These tanks were green on the Cambrian and were kept quick spick. I recall the shock and sadness of seeing them in Manchester around 1965 after they had left the Cambrian and they were looking very down at heel.

A DMU at Delph? Sacre bleu Dave, just for that you can expect a visit from a 'Fell' loco now lol....

It's coming along nicely Dave. It never ceases to amaze and thrill me the interesting architecture that stonemasons put into structures around railways, Replicating them in model form is something else! More pics soon I hope.

Thanks Dave. I'm just trying to get my head through the door at the minute....
Your coach couplings interest me, as obvously I never get to see them here. Can you show a close up of a coach so fitted and tell us if they are easy to fit and adjust please?

Good luck, the loco is coming on well. I enjoy reading these modelling threads as they are full of inspiration. That said, I keep putting off the task you are undertaking in case Bachmann announce a Thompson Pacific. Complete Cowardice on my part.....!

Not been on RMweb for a few days and so I was told about your blog by phone. 'Search' wasnt any good at all so I trawled through the layout blogs in the hope it was here. Nice to see things coming along. Glad I only built the coaches and left the P4 bogie construction to you! Sounds like hard work. I look forward to seeing the excursion train when the bogies are painted.

That 04/8 looks a treat. I must admit that as a lad all the 04's looked much of a sameness except for the big boilered 04/7. I have the Isinglass drawing for the 04/7 and keep telling myself I should roll the boiler in readiness for obtaining an 04. I used to roll boilers from 5 thou plastikard around a suitable size of dowling but I'm told 5 thou is no longer available?

Fear not, a coat of paint hides a multitude of sins. However, glad I havent got the task of glazing it...

I do like the look of these coaches particularly the SE&CR/SR Continental stock. My initial reaction was where did you get a roof seeing as these coaches were so narrow. While searching your blogs I noticed the Comet roof was mentioned and that the coach bodies had been produced over-width to suit a roof intended for 9' wide coaches.
The coaches look the part and certainly no worse for being over width. I dont know how I missed your thread but it is very interesting.

This model of the coal drops is beginning to job my memory a bit, although I await the addition of scenery and masses of undergrowth. I like the length of your sidings and feel this factor will add greatly to the pleasure of shunting the daily goods.

Good to see you back at work Dave. I never noticed that curve in the platform tracks before. Even with a simple branchline terminus there is much to be done and still a few buildings to build. Really looking forward to seeing the train service commence...
