Jordan - Have you tried putting it in a sealed plastic bag and the leaving it in the freezer for a couple of days - That often breaks the glue bond.

Perhaps an idea for your next one, then!

Big Jim - condolences - we have been "adopted" by a feral tom (probably a farm cat) who turned up one day, completely wild, and who has gradually come to be tamed (semi) - we think that he was an older kitten and now think he is about 15 months - one of the nicest-natured cats we've had, but there is no way that he will ever accept being put in a travelling-basket to visit the vets. We'd be devastated when/ if we lost him, and can understand how you feel. Hopefully it was quick and he suffered as little as possible. RIP. small furry person. Jim - just thought you'd like to know that your "Foster-cat" could almost be the the twin of our feral tom - i know they say that "all black cats look alike in the dark" - but the resemblance is uncanny!

I had the immense pleasure of seeing "Los Karr Quays" many years ago, and of meeting Mike Scott who I believe was involved in the building - always found the use of REAL "wet stuff" on an exhibition layout VERY impressive - does the layout still exist?

I'd have been tempted to not fill in the left-hand side - I think it would have worked rather well with a brick wall either side, and a set back gas-lamp street-light as a rather dark and gloomy back alley "cut-through" to the factory behind - possibly with a "night-bird" propping up the lamppost. waiting for her feller to come away from work Far-be-it from me to suggest a "customer"!)

I was the owner - for a short while of the" shortest metro in the world" - I got hit from behind by a Range Rover with bull-bars on the A9, and the entire rear of the car wound up hard against the back of the driver and passengers seats ( fortunately there was nobody in the back! )and the rear wheels were hard against the doors - I actually got out. "Duke-style", through the drivers door window - The Range Rover had a small scratch on one front wing. The Metro was not a car that I'd ever recommend to anybody, under any circumstances, after that experience - especially as it had had its MOT 3 days previously., and passed with flying colours!

Northroader - glad you found it - I have to tell everybody that the layout, minus back-scene was stood on end behind a door awaiting some work, and a rather enthusiastic "door opening" snapped off the fence (loud cries of "OH, BU99ER!" ) - so I am involved in rebuilding (as per Luke Towans video) and possibly fitting a gate( per Thomas Klimoskis video ) Hopefully the upgrades will prove that a simple layout can provide be extended / adjusted / changed and still provide interest over time. I am also looking at a bolt-on rear section that may well hold a further track and widen the layout with another back scene fitted to the rear - regrettably that idea has also triggered thoughts of adding some more trackage to the layout, although the additions will need to travel separately as it will no longer fit in its box

Northroader - if that was in reply to my post about the optical test - certainly - although I'm not doing "Micro-Layouts" as such - I'm currently playing with a much earlier layout (Fiddlestick Switch Job , an HO version of Prof Klyzlrs "ChicagO Fork" layout) that packs up into "That Damn Box", and making alternative back-scenes and changing the layouts appearance - and I'm also fumbling with the idea of adding an extra track and a working gate on a bolt-on back section (which certainly won't then fit into the box , and will need to travel separately) , and thus widening the layout - it keeps me from hanging about on street corners, whistling at the girls. Also I had some LPBs arrive today as I want to add some Afro-Caribbean train crew to some of my locos - so I have some painting to do PS I posted this earlier and on trying to edit it successfully lost the lot - so I have reposted it as well as I can remember the original post PPS LPBs/LLPs = Little Plastic Blokes/People , for those who haven't come across the term before PPPS The original of Fiddlestick Switch Job should be here - just in case anyone is interested

Re nobody seeing patrol cars any more - I'd suggest you don't drive badly on the A9 in Northern Scotland - this morning - going to Inverness and back I saw four - two of which had pulled drivers over - and south of Inverness in the last month they have stopped 3 on the A9 doing 140+mph! (And the A9 from Dunblane through Perth, to Inverness has average speed cameras fitted!!!) On the other hand, foot patrols seem non-existent! I don't remember when I last saw a policeman on foot(or a traffic warden) !

So, this morning I had my annual opticians appointment - reading the chart the lady optician said "that's not bad - this line is what is classed as 20/20 vision, and you've just read 2 lines below that perfectly!" She then gave me the reading card and I read that perfectly on the smallest size. There is a very small change to my right eye of "less that a quarter of 1% " and my eyes are better than at the previous test- Very happy! she also said that if the sight test for drivers comes in she will be very happy to sign it. Whoopee dooo! Also didn't have to do the "yellow eye drops" game - since it is done regularly by the local health authority anyway, she said there is no sense in doing it twice.

Without going back through the thread (it may have been posted previously!) This almost has to be a prototype scene for Ankh Morpork or another of Sir Terry Prachet's cities / towns/ hamlets/ places

Sorry, but "NO!" - I dislike the idea of 2 tier, semi-subscription web sites - either everybody pays or nobody does ( I, as an example , have been a subscriber to TrainOrders.com for many years) - Model Railroad Hobbyist https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/ has gone down this route with its "always free" monthly magazine, to its total detriment, and the interesting articles now have to be paid for - the quality of the "free" edition has dropped right off - and I can see the same problem(s) occurring with a two-tier RMweb - I'd certainly gain little, being too far away to have any use for the free ticket offer - Sorry Andy, bad idea - but that is just my opinion.

Jordan - Not 100% certain but I think they are used to spread fertilizer across a wide area hence the balloon tires - could also be used to throw grain seed similarly (the original meaning of "to broadcast") - Interested to know, too

Okay - #1 Silly question - are you building the boards or is somebody doing it for her? #2 Is the lad having small locos - and if a small-ish loco is being obtained - have you seen this - it will fit on a table - give him some experience, and store easily without anything needing to fold or join together - if it has a plug in controller life should be simple
