Abandoned rails in the road.....(or elsewhere...)
Re6/6 replied to 33C's topic in Modelling musings & miscellany
It's situated on the Shropshire Union Canal. It's just off this magnificent structure which can be unnerving to traverse with railings on one side only ! -

Neatly maintained old tracks near Pontcysyllte Viaduct presumably for loading and unloading canal traffic. It's rather nice to see abandoned tracks looked after. -

Cheddar P4 - February 2024 update - it lives!

Looks marvellous Andrew. The 'underpinnings' are an excellent method giving the whole layout almost guaranteed 'flatness'. We use a similar method on Balcombe but using mild steel tube. -

A superb picture. thanks. A while ago I finally acquired a Bemo version of one of these after many years searching. Got it from a model shop in Florida! As I have some Bemo MOB coaches and a loco so an H0m layout beckons! I started planning an FO 0m layout and acquiring FAMA/UTZ and Golden Trains stock after visiting Disentis for a skiing holiday and buying various superb books on the line some 20 + years ago.. Who knows, it might get started one day! I did start scratchbuilding an FO Deh 4/4II which I would really like to finish...who knows!

...and extremely rude and ignorant. -
Indeed, it was the first time that I had encountered them and they were brilliant. I was doing a scenic demo and could accomodate six or seven people at once rather than the 'traditional' low table with just two chairs which on many occasions would have two people 'glued' to the chairs blocking everyone's access to the demo. Me and David Brandreth (Missenden) have made some wooden risers for the table legs for any demos that we do to give close access to what we're doing.. Most 'specialist' shows seem to dogedly stick to low tables!

Craig and Mertonford post-Narrow Gauge Adventure?

P.D. Hancock was the man that inspred me towards 'proper' modelling. A very talented man. Fondly remembered. -

What CK posted chimes very much with me. At shows, anything in any scale that's well modelled and is presented with that 'realistic' look to it irrespective of its nationality always appeals. Continuous movement on large layouts also is always good to see. We'll be striving for that on our 'Balcombe' layout! This one I'd love to see but never will as it's firmly rooted in Italy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWFvxjY3-rE Good to see the running with 'pans up'!...not often seen.
