Show us your scratchbuilt building

Thanks, those elements are appealing and I wish I had the space to add them. There will be some raw materials silos, elevators, conveyor sections, and distribution silos. The rest will be ‘assumed’. -

Show us your scratchbuilt building

OK, update on proposed Cement Works, for new layout AuSwiss, to be shown at Preston MRE in March. First target was to start on the Cyclone Preheater Tower, referred to above. Plastruct & Javis items were used to create the framework components. Next are decking and one of the many main tower pipes so far - the background screnshot shows the complexity of the real tower. The final structure will naturally be less complex, but lots more to do. So, here is the first stage skeleton of the project. Update 1st Nov 2023: taking shape - more to do: 4.11.2023 further development stage - but not yet complete. The next post will give a preliminary size perspective. Dave -
Show us your scratchbuilt building
70000 Britannia replied to alant's topic in Scenery, Structures & Transport
Hello We see some excellent creations on this topic, invariably presenting finished work. My project will be to create a Swiss Cement Works; re-using as many leftover scrap components as I can to start with. Just as a teaser, this pile of bits dumped on my desk, plus a 1 metre pipe from a builders merchants, and a speculative plan, represent something embryonic. Construction progress will follow. Of course, plans can change! Update: 28.10.2023 An initial crude perspective of a basic Cement Works concept, just to indicate what is manageable in the space available. Note the use of the sophisticated modelling techniques :-). : -

Enjoyed the tropical atmosphere at Perth and it was great to meet up with friends. Congratulations to Simon and Norm on the creation of Shuri Koya - excellent, and thoroughly enjoyed operating such a unique layout. Dave -
Thanks for all the comments guys. I managed to spend 5 hours at Westbury last week. Plenty of 66s and 70s during that time. I hadn't realised there would be such activity in the Westbury yards itself. Anyway, after 4+ hours, it looked like my hope for a 59 was going to be thwarted. There was not a lot of activity on the avoider tracks. Then .. the 14:06, 6L21 Fhh Whatley Quarry to Dagenham Dock A.R.C with 42 wagons @ 4400 tonnes arrived hauled by 59201 + 59103. Absolutely made my day. Thanks. Dave

I use a small rake (6) on Clayton End Signalman, with Ten Commandment loads. They will be at 3 shows in September. -
Thanks for that info. The 4800 ton load would be a cracker, and would be worth the trip down there, in its own right. Thanks again also, to everyone who has given me some pointers. Dave
