  1. Just stumbled on this thread - great stuff! Where are the buffer stops sourced from? They look good.
  2. Looking for inspiration: small N gauge layouts that have used Peco track to good effect (ie looked convincingly realistic)

Ashburton (the fantastic one by the guy who did Totnes) uses Peco Code 55 I believe. It was looking closely at his track that persuaded me to have a go at improving my own Code 55 points by disguising the tiebars etc.

Thanks, Barry. Enjoyed looking through your Paynestown blog.

AndyB - shame about the photo loss, that looks like an interesting layout.

@Neil C it seems my wife had the foresight to back them up to the cloud. Should be able to add them in over the weekend.

  3. Thanks for taking the time to test and report back - really useful! Just been having a look at your layout thread, too: great stuff.
  4. Thanks - that’s very useful; I hadn’t realised there was a newer version of the chassis (and should have guessed the older ones were the same chassis!).
  5. I'm considering dabbling in N, and want to start with a (very) little shunting layout, probably DCC. I wondered if there are any strong views on which is the better performer out of Farish's Class 03 and 04, particularly regarding slow speed running? TIA for any pointers or views.
  6. No Place (sometimes AKA Co-operative Villas) was still there last time I went past: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Place PS. really enjoyed the pics and words on Hawthorn Dene.

Superb model railway AND music studio combined: this is the ideal combination to which I aspire!
  8. Short radius point arrived yesterday; boxfiles awaiting collection at the post office; Sentinel en route in the post...

  9. Wondering if any of the modelling mags are available on iPad yet.

  11. Ordered a Sentinel in BR black. Can't wait.

  13. thinking the '8mm Vintage' app for iphone could make for some fun retro-style model railway film footage.

Sounds like a good idea to me!

  14. That's a lot of projects to be juggling! Your boxfile sounds very interesting - is there a thread or more details on it elsewhere? I'd be keen to see trackplan/photos if they exist.
  15. That looks fantastic - great lighting, in particular.
  16. Really enjoyed CraigZ's 'We ran a long train' video

Me too. Wish I was there.

  17. Wondeeing how many shunting planks the Bachmann 03 will inspire. "Just a couple of bits of track and a point... or maybe two points...can't hurt, can it?"

Loads Neil, now wheres my box of spare track.

  18. As micro trackplans go it's almost too-good-to-be-true!
  19. Very familiar with Westcombe Park and Charlton, though I have to confess the area had never struck me as having much modelling potential! I like your plan, though. It could be a reasonable balance between watching the trains go by and operating interest. Slightly OT, but it occurred to me that the east end of Greenwich station has the sort of view block that many modellers would love - the trains seem to appear from nowhere as they come into the station, out of the tunnel and round a bend. Shame the west end is 7 miles of slightly-more-difficult-to-hide viaducts!
  20. nice to see Kingsway Models mentioned on Londonist.com today.

  21. That looks fantastic. Hardly an original thought now, but there's some amazing 2mm FS things being produced. First, second and third glance at the photo made me think it was 4mm.
  22. Spiritualized - outtakes to Ladies & Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space. Fantastic stuff.
  23. I have, at last, laid the track and wired it (almost all) up. I seem to have managed to get the live frogs working properly, just need to wire the point motors to throw the blades. I might even manage a photo later. A trip to B&Q is planned for some 'fiddlestick' inspiration.
