this is a re-painted Hornby j94 saddle tank 0-6-0 loco. ive always had an interest in the London brick company as memebers of my family have worked for it, or hanson, for well over 100 years. from my great grandfather a gaurd on the fletton brick trains, my grandfather a mechanic in the LBC garages to my dad whos a fitter. the LBC had a fleet of bogie wagons to transport brick around the country, narrow gauge lines to transport clay to the kilns and hundreds of company owned lorrys.

the inspiration behind this loco was that, after the 2nd world war, British railways couldnt afford to lend the LBC locos for movement of thier products, as they were rebuilding the network that had been battered by the war. so the LBC set about finding its own locos, and purchased 2 austerity saddle tanks and one pannier tank to work unfinished brick trains between kings dyke and saxon brick works at whittlesea to the brick pits at fletton and yaxley. they were decked out in the LBC company livery, very similar to that applied to the lorry fleet. these locos worked up until 1960 when replaced with british rail diesels.

now, the model. lorry transfers were used from kingfisher models, however a word of warning, these transfers are only suitabe for aycrlic paint and varnish. the red is railmatch royal mail red, which is a close match. the eagle eyed will notice air brack pipes, this is so it can work passenger trains on preserved railways.! let me know what you think and look out for a couple more fictional industrials coming soon. cheers for now.
