  4. i have always thought one day there would be a o gauge loco that's swing me into o gauge, this may just be it. that looks awesome!
  5. my moneys on either colas or harry needle getting some, maybe heavy haul or drs aswell. i cant see them being cut up. if they are i think that'll spell the end of my interest in the current railway seen. hopefully the class 60 preservation group will have enough funds for one aswel. following the cl58 group.
  6. dont be so sure on the 60's going for scrap. there are alot of ex brush people and ex EWS drivers working for other companies that could use them.

  7. this is a bit much ent it? especially for a lima wagon? id rather have a couple of Bachmann ones myself!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LIMA-BOGIE-BOLSTER-RARE-DETAILED-WEATHERING-/220655464530?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models
  8. thanks guys. i have seen a few images in books dated 1981. that'll do me. i fancy building a few so my excuse is that BR kept hold of a few due to problems with the new wagons.
  9. hi im after some info on prestwin wagons (the Dapol kit wagon or wrenn one), what id like to know is, when was the last of these withdrawn from service? what did they carry? were they all painted bauxite? were the unloaded the same was as presflo's, using air? what was their main area of operation or were they pretty much country wide? and are there any decent colour images online some place? thanks in advance. dan
  10. this guy cant seriously expect some of his prices to sell. and his postage rates. id expect them to be delivered personally by the chief exec of royal mail for that price!
  11. my pet hate word being used again wrongly: http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item335fd8f3e1 "rare version without tanks" hardly rare at all, arnt these the one the shops were lumbered with as they had no tanks? theres atleast two more on ebay and on hattons special offers page! and as for these, call me crazy but i like them in this livery!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OO-GAUGE-Hornby-REPAINTED-HST-BODY-DUMMY-POWER-CAR-/180542965177?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2a093305b9

  14. it does, nice respray, watching this, if only for the coaches!
  15. great layout, very realistic. what sort of power source do you use to power your yard lights?? are they bulbs or LED's? thanks
  16. snazzy indeed. any plans for a further article in model rail?
  17. where the 'up goods' is written on your diagram would be the spital loco sheds, a roundhouse with turntable, and dont forget the cresent wagon shops also spuring off the down goods, then there's smiths sidings, next to the wagon shops were they used to load the newspaper trains. also dont forget the march lines, going off under cresent bridge where the down goods writing is.
  18. This layout never fails to impress me. from the original model rail article to now. outstanding. pity about the harbour though!!
  19. id would be very interested in some custom 00 gauge names. to fit a new Hornby britannia. in sans lower b, possibly, or gill sans if you have it. i would be after the name 'Derek Griffin'. would this be possible?
  20. i emailed him and suggested that he may have done, its nows been altered!!!!

  22. isnt this a bit of a high starting price for a lowmac with a ertl thomas trevor load?? http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item27b2c38dc0 and what about this? £1400+ for a triang loco?????? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TRIANG-Hornby-R155-MAROON-SWITCHER-LOCO-RARE-PROTOTYPE-/220557066684?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item335a39c1bc
  23. dont get like that chaps, i really do not think that anyone on here would ridicule anyone else just for the hell of it. and when you get some very dodgy listings on the auction site that then get removed, then they are most likely stolen goods. ebay has a strict policy on this. i know that, once i listed a Bachmann 66, but as i misspelt Bachmann ebay withdrew the sale and sent me an email with thier rule on selling stolen goods ect. im sorry but if people cannot chat and have a bit of banter over some of the crud that gets listed on ebay then its a sad thing.
  24. this is a re-painted Hornby j94 saddle tank 0-6-0 loco. ive always had an interest in the London brick company as memebers of my family have worked for it, or hanson, for well over 100 years. from my great grandfather a gaurd on the fletton brick trains, my grandfather a mechanic in the LBC garages to my dad whos a fitter. the LBC had a fleet of bogie wagons to transport brick around the country, narrow gauge lines to transport clay to the kilns and hundreds of company owned lorrys. the inspiration behind this loco was that, after the 2nd world war, British railways couldnt afford to lend the LBC locos for movement of thier products, as they were rebuilding the network that had been battered by the war. so the LBC set about finding its own locos, and purchased 2 austerity saddle tanks and one pannier tank to work unfinished brick trains between kings dyke and saxon brick works at whittlesea to the brick pits at fletton and yaxley. they were decked out in the LBC company livery, very similar to that applied to the lorry fleet. these locos worked up until 1960 when replaced with british rail diesels. now, the model. lorry transfers were used from kingfisher models, however a word of warning, these transfers are only suitabe for aycrlic paint and varnish. the red is railmatch royal mail red, which is a close match. the eagle eyed will notice air brack pipes, this is so it can work passenger trains on preserved railways.! let me know what you think and look out for a couple more fictional industrials coming soon. cheers for now.
  25. absolutly awesome, this is a truely outstanding layout and an inspiration to all. excellent work, will be watching the updates with interest.
