I have loaded mine with Scorpions, and will need one more wagon soon as I've another tank to build. strapping was made from Insulation tape, and needs weathering down, which I'll do when i get round to it.
they are superb wagons and run lovely.
here's a short video of mine running.

I was recently asked to repaint and weather a rake of Hornby TTA tank wagons.
here is a video link to how i got on.
it was an enjoyable project, i stripped them all down, repainted and replaced the ladders, followed by some simple weathering.
a video of the weathering can be seen here.
replacing the wheels and ladders, along with a new paint job/transfers really did transform these old tooling wagons. More could have een done, but working within the budget i was set, i think they've come out really well.
all the best

An excuse for anyone who runs steam, there is a photograph in Todays railways review of the year volume 1 of an 8F with two loaded warflats.
it hauled them as a demonstration freight along the 5 mile branch to Honeybourne.

Er, 46143 and 46168, and possibly others were painted in lined black in 1948/9. I have photos. Your splasher lining is incorrect, the cream/grey line did not continue along the bottom of the splasher face except on the Western and Southern Regions.

46143 i have only seen in this livery as an original boiler fitted Scot, not a rebuilt one. Did a rebuilt Scot carry this livery, with deflectors fitted?
there may be some errors in livery application but then this is a 'fictional livery' page!

I ordered mine from WHS as well and the day it arrives in stock they refund my money.
Probably because they had the RRP as £30 whereas everyone else had the RRP as £40.
I'm a bit annoyed about the refund though as I bought it on a double deal with a CD that I wasn't too fussed about getting but it meant I got 15% off the order with free post. They have refunded me £21.24p which means I paid full price for the CD and got less back for the book leaving me with an £8.76p shortfall on their price.
according to WHSmiths website you can still order it for £24.60! not great customer service is it!

I was more thinking of the content and layout rather than price.
"Britain's Classic Seaside Lines" seems a bit more aimed at the general public.
I'll have a look at some point. I've been very disappointed with Steam Railway over the last year or two. Even pre Covid I was thinking there was nothing in it and was "reading" it in about an hour. Which is disappointing as I've been getting it from the start.
Jason
I see what you mean now, the cover on their website differs from the actual production version i have. No mention of 'classic seaside lines'.

I'll have a look at it. But looks a bit "bookazine" to my eyes.
Jason
Its not really, Its priced at £4.75 so significantly cheaper than a bookazine and it reads like the mags do,

Picked up issue 1 today,
Trackside, the journal of railway preservation.
Trackside focuses on all aspects of railway preservation.
looks to be very well put together and an interesting read.

The new issues dropped through my letter box yesterday and having had time to look through looks a good issue. the Layout Penmouth and model Lorry feature are particularly good. i do fear that the review of the Hornby Merchant Navy is going to make me part with more cash!
however i do find myself disagreeing with Chris' opinion on the Lion models, in his piece 'According to Chris'. this is always the first piece i read in the mag.
Now i am not going to knock Chris, who is a member of this parish, as i have the upmost respect for him as a Gentleman and a modeller, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but to state that 'Hornby only need to make Lion couple to their L&MR stock' , i feel is short sighted, especially considering railway historians cast doubt on Lions authenticity as the actual loco from 1838. Would the existing Lion have worked with L&MR stock?
What about all the modellers, like myself, who have been waiting for a Lion for years, only to find it couples to one set of stock? The would cost sales, as no one would pay good money for a loco (ornament) that would not couple to their rolling stock, unless of course Hornby included 00 gauge rope to allow a coupling that would 'tow the queen Mary!"
Un-prototypical it maybe, but i would require a model of Lion to couple and haul a couple of MK1's or indeed a Loriot wagon and Toad.
I have no doubt that both models, if they both go ahead, will be fine models of a great loco. I have Pre-ordered the Rapio pack as it offers more than Hornby.
I just feel it should have been a bit more impartial, especially for a magazine that has such a large circulation, and that the parting line, 'perhaps leave lion to Hornby' has a slight unneeded sting against Rapio to it.

I was in Trains4u earlier and was shown the models of the KR models GT3.
Impressive piece of kit, very nice, albeit strange, looking loco.
The trains for you staff have advised that the shop is now a KR models stockist. That could eb bad for my wallet when the DHP1 clayton comes out!

Trago Mills Model railway layout. Newton Abbot.

Missing info
A couple of weeks ago me and my family paid a visit to Trago, again. we visit this layout every time we go to Newton Abbot branch. Out doors from the main shopping centre is a leisure park and there are several small layouts in glass cases dotted around the place, but the main attraction is this layout.
In operation from 1988, this huge layout is very impressive, loads of detail, a real water harbour, cliff railway, sea wall, the list goes on.
i am certain a good number of us on this forum have already visited.
Here is a link to the video i made whilst there. Enjoy, and if you're ever in the area, its well worth a visit.
