  1. And West Ham are above all of them
  2. I tell you what, I've found out that owning a football club is a breeze! On Thursday, I bought two shares in Real Oviedo, a Spanish club in División Segunda B (the third tier of Spanish football). Three days later, they won promotion! Oviedo needed to raise €2m very quickly,or go out of business, so hit upon the wheeze of selling shares (at €11.50 a go) to anyone who wanted them, so I thought 'why the hell not?'. There's over 8000 minor shareholders, but the majority shareholder in the club is actually Carlos Slim, the world's richest man!
  3. I have to say, I did not see that coming! Chapeaus doffed.
  4. Indicators arrived at 11:30 this morning, in their original Ford boxes. So, for your hard-to-find classic Ford parts, try www.motomobil.de, they're brilliant!
  5. I'm very impressed with this German supplier so far. I got an email confirming the parts were in stock and ready to be picked, signed off 'with best regards from sunny Munich'. You don't get that from Halfords. Then I get a copy of the packing note and all the despatch information, telling me exactly who processed the order and who packed it! Let's hope the rest of the experience matches up.
  6. Needed a new indicator for my Granada, and the best I'd found was £43 from the local Ford dealer, if I collect it. Was having a browse through eBay, and one of the sponsored ads caught my eye. I have just ordered an indicator for each side, delivered from Germany, for £41 in total
  7. I bought one of the right age off eBay for the princely sum of two pounds and twenty pence.. It's actually for an A-reg Porsche, but the text is typewritten so small, it's barely noticeable.
  8. I am such an idiot For some reason, I'd always thought this was 7mm, and given it a swerve, but with a fairly easy shift at work I thought 'I might as well have a flick through it'. I can't believe I've missed 37 pages of fantastic 4mm modelling!
  9. A couple of years earlier, you would have found me in the S&T lobby under the box on an early shift, as it was my first 'posting' as a trainee technician.

  11. I LOVE this layout, absolutely everything about it. One day, I'll build a version, but probably as a 4mm micro, or a 7mm experiment.

  16. It's a JBA Javelin. A very rare beast.
  17. I don't think that even the most optimistic West Ham supporter would have seen the season starting like this. I'm sure it'll derail at some point, but I'm certainly enjoying it so far!
  18. Another Washington fan here, because they won the first game I ever watched, which is a rule I follow for sports where I don't have a natural affinity. This was again back in the 80s when Joe Theismann had John Riggins and Art Monk to give the ball to. I was also at that 'Skins v Niners game at Wembley, I treated my brother to a ticket, seeing as he's a 49ers fan. We tried to get a 'touch-football' team going at our school but it never really took off, and I remember watching the Brighton B52s take on the London Ravens at Withdean Stadium once. Ian - as a recent convert, you may not be aware that back in those days, the Falcons had a British player, their kicker Mick Luckhurst.
  19. I noticed a number of 'retro' cars in the car park at Shenfield yesterday. Apart from my Granada, I saw a Triumph Dolomite, a Mk3 Capri Laser, a Mk2 Honda Prelude (with the pop-up lights) and a Mk2 RS2000!
  20. I do like the idea, especially as someone with i) not much room and ii) somewhat catholic tastes. But the 'homogeneity' is a substantial stumbling block. Would you put together a number of layouts, each made of similar modules? For example, a light railway station is not going to sit well on the same layout as an intermodal yard, which won't work alongside a GWR wagon works. So, do you have a layout for each 'era'?
  21. I didn't realise it was that close to the Designer Village. That'll keep Mrs Del out of my hair.
  22. Indeed, I only ever went to The Duke to watch football on the telly, or a quick one after a match when it was always heaving. I imagine it was always dead at any other time.
