  1. Ok Ian we will see what he says. I have to pic up some Warflat kits from him when I find him in the crowds.
  2. I suspect Appleby would do his whitemetal bogies separate Ian. Do you want me to ask him at Reading tomorrow?
  3. I will remove the pin on my 26 later and give it a run on the DC (why is there never a DCC controlled test track these days?) test track tomorrow at Reading, should turn a few heads! I get Howes to program F8 to toggle through 4 automatic settings for the volume. Just press F8 and the volume increases up to 4 times. It's a lot easier than keep resetting CV's. I think this option is only available on the XL chips.
  4. You are right Cliff I have not done the red thingy on this. I did on my 20052 and boy is it loud. I think it could be heard across the NEC hall when I ramped it up full volume. I might move the pin when I go inside the 26 again to see how much louder it makes it. Regarding the smoke and fans Simon apart from the fact I am more than content to look at the models stood still it probebly has something to do with the fact that I am getting too lazy to do it!
  5. Mr Appleby did a kit for a salmon many moons ago. Wonder if he still does it?
  6. I see 47474 has the wrong style of ETH jumpers on it. It should have the original style on the front yellow just to the right of the headlight. By the way I always use doublesided tape for the nameplates.
  7. 328mm I make it. Hope it's short enough
  8. The window rubbers are moulded on the glazing but as you can see it is not painted. One of the little jobs to do when you get one. What do you want to know about the JLTRT 40 kit Mike. What 40 do you want to do?
  9. I have just run a prototype 7mm class 20 round my garden layout to see what it will do. I only tried a 5 coach train but it ran round with ease. This is not as heavy as the other locos from Heljan but it still pulls enough for a type one loco. There are still some steps to put on and a brake cylinder is missing. Whilst I was at it I thought I would take some pics next to one of my JLTRT 20's. Make your own mind up about them both
  10. The 20's and the coaches will be un-numbered so you can have what number you like. Just make sure with the 20 that you do not choose an ex token recess one as they have deeper side windows.
  11. Yes I do Mike. Just scrape the paint off the spigot and superglue them in.
  12. Hi Pete Are you thinking of Dan Randells class 52 build on the old forum? I don't think he's transfered it over to here yet. You are quite right that there is no smoke or rad fan working. I did a rad fan in a JLTRT 37 and to be honest it does not do much for me. Niether does smoke. As you said I tried it but it still does not look convincing enough to me. I just stick to lights these days. Lets be honest these models sit on a shelf 99.9% of the time so I just want them to look the part.
  13. Poor old 692 Mind you I think it's razor blades now isn't it?
  14. I wish Phill Just have'nt got anywhere to put one. With me having a few blue locos I really should have a TMD layout. If Heljan get their Shirebrook 7mm depot kit out it might spur me on to try and find room for a layout but I can't honestly see where I could put one.
  15. Don't think anyones posted a pic of 37692 that Didcot fitters repainted with their own colour mix. I got the nameplates made from a local graphics shop and stuck them on. Has anyone got the "flame cut" names saved?
  16. It does sound very nice Peter. Just need another 10 all idling away at 05:00 in the morning to replicate Inverness after doing the overnight from Glasgow Ah happy days.
  17. Done a bit of weathering to the 26 today. It looks better in the flesh I think, the pictures don't show it much for some reason. Anyway you can see and hear it for yourself at Warley on the Rail Express stand. I had to put the sound chip in sideways as the body mounts in the centre of the loco get in the way of laying it flat on the chassis. Again I have used a stock 40mm speaker. As for the windows Cliffe I think whats happening here is that they are a bit deep. If you could "flush glaze" it, it would look better maybe. Looking out the window now for a man in a van with a 26/0 kit under his arm
  18. No one has said anything Tim. You have reminded me actualy, must see if I'm working then or not I have just ordered a 26/0 from JLTRT to do a bit to at Warley.
  19. Glad to see you have found a local group to run the 40 eventualy Mike. Got the lights working now. Get down and dirty next week ready for Warley where I shall have it on the Rail Express stand chugging away.
  20. Classic. Just sent them to a few drivers and our Traction Inspector.
  21. Good to have you back Mike. Wait till it's got some muck on the 26, think it will look stunning (It better had after saying that ). Hows your 40 dare I ask?
  22. You want a Co-Bo? I think you might have a bit of a wait Jon. The list is getting long of what is in the pipeline isn't it. I just emailed Laurie in Irvine to order another 26 as the 27 is not about yet due to all the versions needed. Well these 26/27's are notorious for the differances in their lives. Fitted the windows and wipers now. I shall wait a bit then get mucky with it. As usual though it won't be a lot. I have done a fair representation of the framework that shows through the fibreglass roof panel I think. Get a bit of exhaust over it later to tone it down a bit. Can't remember if I put a picture up of 20 number 3 I did. It will be 20009 from TO to go with my green 20151. It still had it's oval buffers in the late 70's although the air pipes had been moved into the bufferbeam from underneath it. I am waiting for a replacement rad roof etch as the one on it has more metal than holes.
  23. Decided to put the windows in today so will get the windy wipers in as well then it's weathering time which should bring out the detail nicely. Now, how long for the 27 to arrive?
  24. Thankyou for doing the link Mr MOD5. What happened to the pics on the old forum that I put up recently? Oh well have to persevere with this one. I did copy the old thread over to one of these blog things but half the pictures are missing on that as well. The 26 is in the paintshops at the moment so hopefully have a pic by the weekend. As to if you want to do JLTRT kits over brass/metal ones well to me I don't mind building either but the biggest factor that makes me choose JLTRT is the fact that, as it says on the box, they look Just Like The Real Thing As I have said before though the biggest downer with them is the total cost with motors and wheels etc.
