  1. Always look forward to seeing a nice pair of 37s! I'll get my coat and leave now! Layout is looking good Will. Wayne
  2. Hiya Rob, Likewise, I haven't been over here in a while so I thought I'd come and see what's happening in the world of all things wool related! Indeed, it easy to get distracted. And just to prove that I'm not completely anti steam, one project I want to do is a small Welsh colliery based shunting plank. Maybe it'll be my first flirtation with Swedish furniture! Wayne
  3. About flipping time! Seriously though, it'll be interesting to see how a couple of diesels look. I thought I was going to have to model something green and place it on the layout when you're not looking. Look forward to seeing what you come up with. Cheers, Wayne
  4. I decided to bring Trevanna out of hibernation today so I could have a play. The last time it was ran was back in November 2019 when I took it to the EM Society modelling workshop, it had a couple of shows booked for 2020 but of course Covid put a spanner in the works. Pleasingly everything ran okay apart from a bit of jerky running due to dirty loco wheels, I also looked at the layout itself and came up with a couple of jobs to smarten the presentation up. The plan is to get it ready for shows again... Whenever that will be! Anyway enough blathering on, here's a few pics grabbed during testing. Nothing special, just point and shoot camera phone shots. Cheers
  5. If The factory is shut down Rob that shouldn't stop some sort of update being made here. Not as big a deal as the length, but looking at images on here again the chain box looks a little overscale as well. In any case hopefully something will be said soon, but in this day and age where our hobby isn't getting any cheaper people expect to have the quality that their money is being spent on. Cheers
  6. Sounds like a good decision to me, it's fine saying they're investigating the matter, but that shouldn't stop them in engaging with customers who've already spent money on pre orders. Let's face it, money is both hard earned and precious! Disappointing to hear that they've chosen not to make some sort of announcement! Cheers,
  7. I've just caught up with this thread. It's such a shame to see that the Salmon is short on length, and by quite a bit as well. I wonder why the dimensions weren't checked at the EP stage before bulk manufacturing started. Having built quite a few Cambrian ones over the years I don't really need any more Salmons, but I would have been tempted if they did a crane fitted variant. It'll be interesting to hear what Flangeway say, but I'm glad the wallet can relax for now. Cheers.
  8. Hi Will, Nice progress on the scenic stuff. Scenery has never been something I'm great at, but with Trevanna Dries being due for some attention and a new layout in progress it's something I'll have to work on. Luke Towan has some great videos, as do some other American modellers. One I follow is called Daniel, his channel is dansrailroad2011. I'm not sure how old he is or how long he's been a modeller but some of his weathering work is really good. Cheers, Wayne
  9. Hi Kevin, That's okay, to be honest I forgot that I'd posted in here again. It's funny you mention the MR articles as I was looking through them last week. I'm looking to do a Railiner van myself, so it's nice to chat to the person who did the article. I know what you mean about modelling, I did a lot in the first lockdown but work on the big railway took over for a while as they keep changing our shifts. Speedlinkand engineers stock has taken priority recently but I need to get on with some clay stuff as I need my West country fix. Cheers, Wayne
  10. Hi Phil, Thanks for the update. It's a shame Peter can't offer a click and collect service, but it's an understandable decision and hopefully the shop will open up again at some point. I'd certainly hate for it to close down because Model shops in Cardiff are thin on the ground. If you speak to him again, please wish him all the best from me. Cheers, Wayne
  11. Hmm, reading that brings back memories of black paint! Lesson learnt! Such a shame that this year's show was cancelled, but it was obviously the right decision.
  12. Thanks Rob, email has been sent. Wayne
  13. Hi all, Does anyone how/when this click and collect service is operating? I've phoned the shop a few times today and no answer, I've been out shopping and just drove to the shop to find it shut. There also hasn't been any update on the shop website or Facebook page. Thanks in advance.
  14. Nice little collection of vans James. Even though they're too grotty for my time period I like the techniques you've used to produce those. I'll look forward to seeing how you do the Barbels, I have about six to do soon. Cheers
  15. Hi Kevin, I've been back through the Bristol area in the thread but I must have missed it, did you touch on traffic to the small group of sidings at St Philips, beyond Kingsland Road bridge? Cheers, Wayne
  16. Hi Rob hope things are good. I've just looked this up after seeing Sheep Dip in BRM while out shopping. Looking good sir. Cheers, Wayne
  17. Crikey, it's been nearly 7 months since I posted anything! The main reason I haven't had much modelling time was that my partner had a nasty accident in the garden back in July, and as such she was unable to get around much for almost 3 months! A job on the big railway and volunteering on a preserved railway also keeps me busy, but now the winter is closing in I'm starting to get cracking again. One of the things I'm working on is a small mid 1980s engineers works train, the first wagon to be done is an SR 25t 'pillbox' brake van. This is a Cambrian kit I picked up at a local model shop before the 'fire break' lockdown came into effect here in Wales. The van is now at the painting stage and is being finished in engineers Olive livery. Once painting is finished I'll be adding wire handrails and lamp irons in addition to some detail underneath. The next wagon will be another Cambrian kit and will be a GW Loriot low flat wagon, which one day will have an excavator on it and after that a couple of Grampus wagons. More soon, and I'll try to post more regular if I can. Cheers, Wayne
  18. This is a shame to read as I was looking to have at least one. One question though is if you aren't taking any further orders, how do you know if the funds will be there to make the project worth doing?
  19. Hi Rich, Hope you don't mind but here's some photos I grabbed at Lydney last year. It seems I only took four but I may have others from a previous show. Cheers, Wayne
  20. Hi Chris, Lockdown Feb looks good, I'm impressed at the speed you seem to work in. Layout planning and then building seems to take me forever! Cheers, Wayne
  21. Looks an interesting project Chris. Like @marc smith said I'm impressed where you find the time. I've just started planning the rebuild of my steelworks layout, but time seems to fly by and when I look at what progress I've made it doesn't look like much. I do have a week off coming up though so I've set myself a deadline of cutting the first timber then. Cheers
  22. Hi Chris, As Marc says I'm sure the new owner will get a great deal of enjoyment out of Dock Street. PS Me and Marc don't live far from each other so a bidding war may ensue if you decide to move the other layout on.
  23. Just came back to check for further progress here, I hope the layout still exists? Cheers.
  24. It goes through stages Nick. Working now but it'll probably go out again at some point. It really needs to go over to a new host. Cheers, Wayne
