  1. I recently picked up a unmade Freightman 7mm wagon kit at a show. The kit seems very nice. Does anyone know the full range of kits that were produced. A friend sent me this advert, but I thought there were more LNER wagons? Can anyone advise. Also just wondering what happened to this range? I assume like Imptus it’s no longer available. Thanks David
  2. Thanks that’s very helpful. Best Wishes David Thanks, that’s helpful. Best Wishes David
  3. Ah yes sorry a typo. Now corrected!
  4. Hi look for further info on this class of locomotives. I have the RCTS loco’s of the LNER part 7 and the Locomotives Illustrated 130 but does anyone know if there are any other articles about them in any of the various periodicals - Railway Bylines/BRILL etc? Thanks David

  7. I'm trying to work out when these wagons carried this livery? I remember them in the 1980's but don't recall this the Shellstar logo? I assume that this was there first version of the livery carried in the 1970's, but wondering did any wagons last into the 1980's with this version. The lastest picture I can find is 1981. Thanks David
  8. One of the layouts that will be part of the show is “Little Histon”. This is a model of Histon Railway Station which was on the railway line between Cambridge and St Ives. This is the first show the layout has attended and will show a representative sample of the service the line saw in the late 1950’s and 1960’s including traffic to and from the Chivers Jam factory which forms part of the layout.
  9. Thanks for all your comments and suggestions. I number of things I had not really thought about. The desgin will have to change give some really good points made. I'm quite keen to keep this as low tech as possible, so think i will start to look at the mirror and the reversing camera first before I think about more costly DCC options! All very helpful Best Wishes David
  10. I am working on a design for a new layout. One of the options would be for the fiddle Yard to be completely hidden from the operators view. So I would need to have some way of knowing which train was in which fiddle yard siding and which route was set. Would be interested to hear how others have solved this problem and what they have found worked well. Thanks David
  11. As with the rest of these mags another execellent read. Hope there are more to come!

  14. So here is my one 609 was a long time 31A Cambridge resident. I’ve a SE Finecast chassis on order - just wondering what others have done witj wheels, gears and motors. It will need to be DCC so I need to factor that in as well. Best Wishes David
  15. I also read this - J17 with inside valve gear - fantastic! GE is often overlooked so great to see you modelling a real location. Would be interested to read more of what you have been up to.
  16. Been a while… but after much fiddling about the bridge on the right of the layout now fits in its space. I couldn’t get it to work until I pushed the pub to the back. Took inspection from the famous ‘Persil’ shot from George Stokes. More work to do to bed it in and put more detail on - like a chimney on the pub - the Dinsdale Arms I think! Best Wishes David
  17. Thanks for all your comments and advice. I used the glue suggested and here is the result after a few hours work over a a couple of evening. it’s my first whitemetal kit which I’ve assembled and painted. I think I will weather down with some powers before i find a home for it on the layout. best wishes David
  18. Interesting, Hope you are alos planning a 1980's volume ! Best Wishes David
  19. That's great news, I normally make Railex so this could be my chance ! All BEst Wishes David
  20. Thanks for sharing the video, are you guys coming south anytime soon to a show nearer London? Keen to see this one in person. Best Wishes David
  21. Thanks for all your reply's, that is really helpful, Its a good point about using glue which allows painting before hand. I will update with progress. Best Wishes David
  22. I picked up a Mike’s Models Victorian gents kits form the rummage box at a local show for £2 ! I’ve never done any soldering of white metal before so would welcome some advice. Any general advice would be welcome. But some specific question I can think of are:- 1. What temperature should my soldering iron be set at. I’ve one where you can vary the temperature. 2. what sort of solder should I use. 3. I assume I need to Use flux - again any advice. Also any tips etc and things to avoid. Would welcome advice Best Wishes David
