I'm sure it has been mentioned somewhere, but when do you anticipate Millport being back in full operation at Wigan - my layout Penlan is booked for Wigan in 2012, will there be a LNWR double act?
I know it was there at the last Show, although being so close to Christmas I had other commitments in West Cornwall that prevented me popping in to see Millport......
Penlan
We haven't planned a return to service date as yet, however the 2012 show would certainly set us a goal to aim for. I think you have given us something to think about.......... Hmmmm

Hi Simon
Just been passed onto your blog via the Wigan website. Millport has long been a favourite of mine since seeing the original article in the Todeller many moons ago. It appealed to me as it was LNWR signalled (having worked LNWR signalboxes this was a huge draw!!) and it just looked right. I went as far as having 'fantasies' as to how it would look in the present day or even with 25Kv OHLE!! Sadly I never got to see it in its original form but was delighted to see the revamped/built layout in the Todeller in recent years. This was sufficient to encourage me to come and see it at a Wigan expo and I was not to be disappointed. I shot about 20 minutes of video too. I was thinking about visiting Wigan expo again this year now that I am working (and earning!!) again and seeing that Millport is going to be available for viewing has swung it for me! I look forward to keeping track of this fine layout.
Hi Natalie,
Thanks for the kind comments, I will pass your thoughts onto the rest of the group. We did not talk about 25Kv OHLE with Norman, but we did discuss the possibility of operating Millport with BR green diesels I think very early 60's so plenty of class 25's and 40's. Norman was quite keen at the time, but unfortunately we never did get round to trying it. Maybe in a few years time, we could look at doing something similar as a 'one-off'. It will be good to see Millport on display at Wigan this year unfortunately it will be static as acomplete re-wire is to start shortly. We are planning on displaying the 3 boards that form the station and station throat and shed area. A selection of Normans stock will also be on display on the layout.
Thanks again

Thanks

Yes, we will be restoring it. It has taken slightly longer than planned due to a lack of club rooms over the past few years. There will be 3 boards on static display at our Wigan show in December to show some of the work in progress.
Cheers
