  1. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/67934824 A shame as he's a real character. Much better then Horner the moaner. Netflix must be upset.
  2. Can confirm that Flickr is very useful, you need only type in a loco number and you'll find many photos from throughout its history. Adding a year or livery name can help narrow that down where needed. Extremely useful for weathering.
  3. I think it's perfectly reasonable for Accurascale to ask people to contact their support when they have issues. How can they build an accurate picture of what is happening and plan any further response if not? I'm confident that if every locomotive owner was contacting them to say they had the same issue would be resulting in more robust responses from Accurascale and plans to resolve issues. Personally speaking, I have a Deltic and a Class 37 and have had none of the described issues with either of them. They are spectacular models that completely live up to my expectations. If I had issues or if either develop issues I'll do as Accurascale are saying and contact their support.
  4. Very easy to make incorrect assumptions when manufacturers are not named and it's a thread about a product by one specific manufacturer 😅
  5. Certainly, derailing can be the fault of the track or rolling stock. Just because one item of rolling stock goes through an area of track another derails on doesn't always means the fault lies with the offending stock. The track and rolling stock should be investigated as a possible cause of issues and any problems found removed. Certainly, Charlie said that he had spotted a problem with his track and was going to iron it out. In the case of the decoder fault in the video, I think Hatton's response was due to the purchaser asking for a refund. They effectively then get back a model they cannot sell on as 'brand new'. If they'd been asked for a repair then I assume the correct response would be for the model to go back to Hattons who I assume would then have used their 'buyer rights' to contact Accurascale for the warranty repair.
  6. The WRC kicks off in Monte-Carlo the last weekend of this month, Thursday 25th to Sunday 28th. Will be interesting to see who comes out on top in the WRC given Kalle Rovanperä has decided to do a part season. I'm personally hoping Elfyn Evans is able to come out on top. It is a shame that Ott Tanak decided to head back to Hyundai from M-Sport. The biggest issue with the WRC currently is the lack of top teams and now you have one team basically fielding two young drivers who are unlikely to be fighting for wins. There is lots of talk for new directions for the WRC going forwards. All in the aim of increasing the number of Teams so there are more top flight cars and therefore more for fans to follow. WRC2 is once again looking to be a tighter battle with more drivers who could technically take the top spot in that championship.
  7. Working in a problem solving centered job myself, I 100% wouldn't be discounting the controller as the cause of an issue. One way to do that is to try the locomotive on a different one to see if the problem still exists. If it does, it's the loco. If it does not then either it is the controller or something with that combination of locomotive and controller isn't working correctly. Could even be that the same make/model of controller has different results here. That said, I do think people who are having issues should be doing like the Accurascale guys are saying and contacting their support. They are the best equipped to help troubleshoot and provide fixes. They know their locomotives better than anyone else and from what has been said they are extremely good at providing that support.
  8. Some of the PXA wagons listed have RO lettering. Would someone be able to clarify for me what this stood for? I assume it appeared on wagons at a certain time period in their lives.
  9. I think it's important to take personal bias out of the equation. I fully agree in not liking Horner, for the same reasons as you state @Hobby However, not liking someone isn't a reason for them to not be recognised for the work they do or what they have achieved. Red Bull fans will be over the moon with the news.
  10. In my experience it's still a matter of trial and error. Best thing to do therefore is to run the locomotives not coupled together and see what happens. If the gap widens or decreases at anypoint during acceleration or deceleration you need to adjust some settings. You can adjust these without upsetting the sound project, whilst the sound project would have settings preset those cannot take into account the different performances of different motors, etc.
  11. I agree on the voice doing the announcements being the same for many years. I noted he was doing his best to make them as clear as possible by speaking in shortened bursts, two or three words before a pause for the echoing before continuing. Overall, Warley is what it is and I have enjoyed visiting it for the best part of 10 years. The things people complain about are rarely within the full control of the organising team. I'm very much looking forwards to next years show already.
  12. I think you just have to look at some of the records that Verstappen had taken to see how dominant Red Bull is. Those who point to the Mercedes dominant period and saying it was also boring need to realise that there were still competition between the teammates. Yes, Bottas wasn't as bigger threat to Lewis that Rosberg was and was soon getting the calls to move over. However that peoved that the team performances were converging at that point. I really think the only thing to slow Red Bull down and not the others would be to impose success ballast on just them. However, that would have people up in arms. For all their 'our drivers are equal' chat it is clear as day there is a single no1 driver at Red Bull.
  13. Thing about the smaller traders, it's not just Warley they are not attending, it's other shows as well. It's the costs when added together that make it unviable, not just stand rent. If the Warley Ckub tried to subsidise those traders then you would see fewer layouts as they need to balance things out as well. I have realised the one thing that annoyed me, the hall maps dotted around didn't give you a stand list. Yes, you had stand numbers but not what each stand number was. This being unlike previous years. I understand the reason for not doing a show guide but withholding basic information when you are in the show is sad to see. Feels it was a push to make you purchase the printed showmap.
  14. I very much enjoyed my visit to Warley yesterday. Spent far too much on DMUs, a shout out to Charlie on DCKits for blowing two decoders for me to upgrade one of his last Provincial 156 DMUs to sound. Layout of the show for me has to go to Bron Hebog. A spectacular recreation of the real area around Beddgelert. I agree that the lack of specialist trade is a shame. Sadly I think it's not only the stand rent costs that have priced them out but the accommodation, food and fuel costs too. I really see no way that those areas can be improved for them.
  15. At present I'm investigating adding cable trunking to the lineside of my club's 1980's/1990's era layout and I cannot work out when the raised GRC type was introduced. This being the type available from West Hill Wagonworks: https://westhillwagonworks.com/lineside/166-grc-cable-trunking-angle-sections-n-gauge-pack-of-4.html I ask as the layout includes a viaduct and bridge and this raised type seems perfect to add along the side of the bridge the other side of the Class 150 shown in the image below: I'm certain there would be a cable run across the bridge but whilst the cables could be clipped to the parapet walls of the viaduct I'm unsure how they would cross the bridge. The standard concrete trunking doesn't feel right in that area. Any help or advice would be gratefully received.
  16. The one thing I would like to know is, will the DCC Sound versions include a Stay Alive?
  17. Sprint races were created for entertainment, so let's make them more likely to be entertaining. The Sprint Race has already been disconnected from the main race on Sunday so the first thing I would change is to allow setup changes between the Sprint and race on Sunday. This may mean paying with when Qualifying is held though. To allow for that, get rid of sprint qualifying and have the grid set by championship order. However, have those 1st in the championship at the back and those last at the front. Everyone who finishes the sprint then gets points towards a 'Sprint Championship'. 20 for first down to 1 for last. Those at the top of the Sprint Leaderboard at the end are crowned Sprint Champion and gain points towards the main championship. These count towards both Drivers and Constructors. This should be for just the top ten in the leaderboard with the same payout as a full race. There should be no more than half the race weekends in the year specified as Sprint Weekends. If the total mileage covered by the Sprint Championship is at least a full race difference you effectively have another race on the calendar. Succeed in the sprint championship and it could make a difference to the main championship but it becomes another challenge to overcome instead of just being racing for racing sake, especially for those at the back of the grid who have no chance of earning points in the current sprint setup.
  18. Yeah, there were a few of those, the rally was crossing borders between 3 countries and a few WRC2 and WRC3 competitors were forced out before they'd even started.
  19. Something Hamilton agreed with when he saw the reply in the cool down room after the race. Should be noted that Lewis owned up to making the mistake he made. Leclerc even mentions Checo likely couldn't see Crashtappen on the inside and thought there was more room then there was. Thing to remember is they are all racers and are pumping with adrenaline which clouds the judgement. The greatest racers are those who can still make the inch perfect moves despite all that adrenaline. Checo's would have been massively higher then normal given the home race crowd he was in front of. Ultimately I like Checo and was very glad Red Bull gave him a lifeline when Daddy Stoll dropped him. I do hope that he finds somewhere else when Red Bull drop him. It's clear that is what will happen eventually given the pressure they are heaping on him.
  20. Kalle Rovanperä and Jonne Halttunen have been confirmed as two time champions in the WRC despite there being 1 round left in Japan next month. This being after they finished ahead of Elfyn Evans in the Central European Rally.
  21. Could easily include Linda and Blanche in their modern forms given they have only been available from the Ffestiniog. The announcement could be that they are becoming more widely available.
  22. Some DCC systems have smart consisting so you can amend those on the fly. If you run both locos on the same address or have a system that doesn't support smart consisting. You need to adjust the CVs for Max Speed, Acceleration and Deceleration until the locos match. It's a case of trial and error in my experience.
  23. Purchased Blanche from the shop whilst at the FR and gave her a run last night up the club. Thing I noticed is the additional wheelset reduces her adhesive weight compared to 0-4-0STT Linda. Blanche struggled to get 4 Peco L&B coaches around the curves on the clubs test track whilst Linda manages fine. Not really an issue as I plan that to be my longest train which will have a Fairlie on it anyway. 😅 However, she was completely fine with 3 coaches and looked superb. Smothe running out of the box too unlike Linda who had a small limp until she'd run in.
  24. Decided to obtain one of these Bluetooth sound decoders after experiencing one a freind had purchased. Have to say I am impressed with thr quality of the sound. It's in a class 56 currently and with an upgraded speaker it sounds very good indeed. Not sure about the app though, on my phone screen there is a lot of scrolling if you want functions and speed control. I'm glad these decoders will work with standard DCC Systems and you are not tied to just using the app. Where the app does well is how easy it was to connect to the decoder and install the sound profile. I can see myself trying other sound projects like the 47 and 40 before buying additional Bluetooth decoders. I think the established sound decoders are still superior in many ways. However, as someone who tends to overlook those models I have not fitted sound to yet, these will be a cheaper method to upgrade.
  25. I think what is telling is the price of older tooled models has also increased. HAA Hoppers are the best example, the old Hornby versions being sold at the same price of those from Accurascale. Despite the Accurascale version being superior in terms of the amount of detail present.
