  1. I think what is telling is the price of older tooled models has also increased.

HAA Hoppers are the best example, the old Hornby versions being sold at the same price of those from Accurascale. Despite the Accurascale version being superior in terms of the amount of detail present.

  2. I had a brilliant day at Statfold today, arrived at just after 10 and didn't leave until after the show itself closed at 4pm.

A spectacular line up of layouts which were all very well presented. Simply put, one of the best exhibitions I have visited.

I do hope the 009 Society have done well out of the Public Attendance of the event. I know it is a special event for the 50th but it would be very very nice if this could become an annual event.

To all those involved in organising a great big THANK YOU for all your hard work. 😁

  3. Yeah, it's sponsorship. The Teams are paid for their Drivers to be seen walking around with massively expensive watches around their wrists.

I remember when I was young seeing Kimi Raikkonen being given a watch at the end of every race when he was with Mclaren. I thought he must be very vaign that he must have it straight away. It was only much later that I realised it would be due to the sponsorship agreements, he'd be being paid to put it on as soon as he jumps out the car! 😅

When Perez was out of a job after being replaced at Racing Point & Red Bull had a vacancy after not re-signing Albon, they did not meet up straight away.

Do you really think that would have waited if they wanted him as an equal No1 driver?

Look at the history of Red Bull: They have been more successful when having a No1 & No2 driver & their team principal (& therefore their team ethic) has remained unchanged.

It seems a bit silly that they would have hung around to sign somebody who was unemployed at the time then made him an equal No1 with someone who they had nurtured through their development programme.

His best season finish before 2021 was 4th. He has since finished 4th & 3rd, now he is 2nd.

If Perez feels he has been stitched up, I am sure the team quickly remind him of the above.

He was signed as a No2 & is being treated exactly like that.

So maybe RB sould stop talking to the media as though Perez is on equal footing as their no1 driver.

We all believe that Perez is a No2 driver from the way we see him being treated. However at no point have RB stated he is.

Personally, I like Perez and I am glad he still has a seat in F1 after being replaced at Racing Point/Aston.

However, the last two years of RB domination have been boring when compared to Mercs period. At least Merc let their drivers fight and by the time they'd had enough of that other teams had caught up enough that there was a chance of someone else winning.

You just have to look at the most consecutive wins record Verstappen broke at the weekend. Not one that Lewis gained during Mercs golden patch, one held by Vettel another driver for RB.

At the next lot of pit stops, they were too close to pit on the same lap. 1 must therefore be in front of the other, so only 1 can pit at the best time. They chose they team leader. As above, I have no problem with this. This allowed Verstappen to undercut Perez. But from a team point of view, their cars are 1 & 2, with the championship leader first.

There was over 2 seconds between the cars, they had enough time to bring them in and change the tyres on both. Merc have done it in the past many times.

Granted, it's a higher risk. Get an issue with the first car and the second is ends up stood waiting. However, RB are pit stop pros and should be more than capable of doing double stops. However, I cannot think of any time that they have done it.

  7. Yeah, it's clear as day why they pitted Verstappen first even though Perez had track position. They wanted their golden boy to get the advantage.

They had more than enough time to double stop but they left Perez out for an extra lap on the wrong tyres. Verstappen wouldn't have been impeded as they had enough time to get Perez out of the way.

Anyone with a gap behind them can pit for new tyres to set the fastest lap. It does not really mean a lot.

New tyres don't spacifically mean you will get fastest lap. You still have to put the lap together and not make a mistake or be too complacent.

Wasn't it a Ferrari who screwed that up recently?

Hope the weekend is a complete washout...

No as I enjoy Spa, it's a proper racetrack and not a silly pop up street circuit that looks like all the others and has no character.

It's one of the best tracks on the calendar and I was very disappointed when the race two years ago got called off.

  10. Apparently Mr Bean has a gearbox penalty. Heard it on my local radio station's news bulletin but not found it online yet.

Always enjoy Spa, its a wonderful track. I hope the forcasted weather doesn't cause stoppages.

What are the current rules about maintaining speed/distance to the pace car before it pulls off the track?

I believe that once the lights on the safety car go out the leader takes over setting the pace.

Therefore, the leader can let the safety car pull away and then return to racing speed at anytime they like.

  12. I niticed that on the corners where track limits were an issue the curbs were wider then the cars. Inviting drivers to go wider.

Therefore, why not mandate that no curb should be wider then a cars width. Then it encourages drivers to keep within track limits.

However, I personally think grass on the outside of the track is a better option. That stops all the issues.

I did contact them and they said send a short video. I have for the last 2 hours been trying to do so and each time I try to send it , tells me the file is too large and won't send.

That won't be Accurascale's fault, it will be down to your email provider.

As someone who works in IT support, my recommendation would be to upload to somewhere like Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive or similar then share it via a link.

  14. Had a wonderful time playing with operating my 37051 at the club last night. Very impressed with the flange squeal functionality.

The Drive Lock feature was also very nice. Allowing me to set a speed then play with the engine thrash. Oddly, I couldn't find any mention of running in amungst the info sheets. However, I gave it 30mins in each direction to be sure.

I've had no issues with parts coming off of my model. Just need to work out if I'm fitting ploughs when I fit the buffer beam detail and do some weathering then it will be perfect. Part of me thinks I ought to fit crew tho.

I assume everyone will get emails about leaving reviews.

Probably covered before. Am I right in saying that the smaller speaker is not fitted to the DCC ready option. If not can I fit my own without any probs. Or is there one available as a spare from Accurascale. Apologies for not paying attention, will stand in the corner for the rest of the evening!

From what I understand, small speaker and stay alive are both fitted to DCC Ready versions.

It's the Accurathrash speaker and Sound Decoder that need adding to get the same as the DCC Sound version.

What the hell is going on with all this positivity? I don’t know about you but I want to see comments like “this model is, objectively, the best RTR model I’ve ever seen, but as I’ve had to wait a couple of weeks longer for it to arrive than I was originally told,  I now hate it and have just given it to a tramp to sell for food…”.

Nope, all good things come to those who are patient and wait 😁

My 37051 arrived this morning; it's great! Am amazed how well the flange squeal sensors work - that's a great feature!

    Completely forgot about them! 😬

Really looking forwards to running mine on Thursday at the Club where there's more space to try it all out.

Something that's grown on me is the AWS test when you change direction. Just need to remember to make the Cab Door sounds 😅

  18. Got home last night and immediately unboxed my 37051. Very happy with it so far but I only have around 3ft of track to try it on.

Even with that, it sounds very impressive. I very much liked the 'heavy' and 'light' options and how they change the way the loco drives. The brake and drive hold functions are also very good.

Very much looking forwards to taking it up to the club on Thursday where it will be able to streach it's wheels and get run in.
