  1. Lovely Ken, really nice, I too have a Night Owl high up the list, though haven't actually got one in stock yet... JB.
  2. I know very well a shop similar to this, that of perfect miniatures in Sudbury...! Does he have any 7mm bits? JB.
  3. Hi Gus, Looking mega.. Although i really can't recommend highly enough the use of chemical black when soldering together valve gear... Chemical black will etch the areas of metal on to which its placed, and prevent any solder adhering to the brass/nickeld..! It really is a must! JB.
  4. Looking very nice gus.. I think you might have missed a couple of bits of etch on the saddle though... The cutouts in the ends of the saddle take some strengthening plates... Not to worry though, as they can't really be seen unless you really look for them, especially in 4mm... JB.
  5. I have to admit, I (and many others) do spray the coal with a light dusting... It's just too shiny otherwise.. Especially if you break up a lump of welsh steam coal.. Haha JB.
  6. Can't think why anybody would do that..! JB.
  7. Do remember that the height of a tender compared to the engine will differ depending on wether the tender is freshly fueled and full of water or desperately needing to go on shed to replenish.... along with a fresh brew for the driver and fireman.. JB.
  8. I've just remembered that you're about to hit the trickiest part of the K2 build by far.. Getting the front part of the footplate lined up correctly when you slide the assembly into the main footplate.. The instructions do state to take a lot of time with this.. Take heed.. It's an absolute !! I took it apart twice I think as it just didn't look right each time.. JB.
  9. Very nice Gus.. Looking at the picture I think you might have missed the horizontal plate that fits directly behind the front coal plate across the tops of the lockers.. JB.
  10. Oh in that case you need some working brakes and working reverser on the K2 also! Haha JB.
  11. One thing I have done on my tender is to chop off the etched coal rails and use some half round brass section.. Only slightly tricky, but looks so much better.. JB.
  12. Very nice Gus.. Captured the look of the tender nicely.. JB.
  13. Meant to say, Gus... I have the full build of the K2 on the old old RMWeb... See link below from page 14 if it's of interest ?! http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=19603&start=325 JB.
  14. Hi Gus, I read somewhere that it was a hole in the footplate for placing a bucket into to stop it from rolling around the cab.. I cant think of anything else that it would be for, so I'm going with that.. JB.
  15. Oh, and don't forget the splashers between the slidebars and the leading drivers... Something that the kit doesn't cater for.. JB.
  16. Hi Gus, I know this kit very well, as I'm on my second at the moment.. albeit in 7mm/Scale7... Fourtrack models (now Gladiator) distribute the upscaled version of the LRM kit.. If you need to know anything, just ask.. JB.
  17. I rather like the Black 5, Ken!! JB.
  18. Hi Ken, the 9f looks fantastic...! I'd like one for myself, but I'm not sure how many were on the Great Eastern in 1946... Did you say you have an L1 on the bench next? If it's the Gladiator version, you might find yourself replacing a few bits... The material for the whole footplate is far far too thick.. Look forward to seeing the build as mine has taken almost forever so far, and there's still a fair way to go.. JB.

Main event of the Year for 7mm/ft modellers. Standard Gauge and Narrow Gauge, O f/s and Scale 7 plus plenty of traders. http://www.gauge0guild.com/Guildex_Guide_2011.pdf JB.
  20. Couldn't tell you that I'm afraid, I didn't see it and not much of a bus man... Edit: Just had a look on google, and it is route number 21 via Braintree.. JB.
  21. I saw the bus to Black Notley in Halstead the other day... Looking good by the way.. JB.
