Not sure about this - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-derbyshire-65572068

Back in the '90s one of the shops selling sarnies at Waterloo - I think it was Boots(?) used to do al 'all day breakfas sandwich containing egg, bacon, sausage, and tonmato. But what made it complete was the bread ' baked bean flavour white bread - well actually a sort of pinkish-pale brown colour. Much to my amazement if all made quite a tasty sarnie on the days I'd not been provided with any bt herself at home.
But they were only on sale for a few months so obviously I must have been one of the few people who actually liked them

Where to get a tube of kali?

I wish that from time to time, someone would produce an RTR steam loco that didn't require me to either send it back or build a replacement chassis or even just change the wheels, to enable it to run on my bullhead track. Consistent wheel profiles between the various RTR manufacturers would also help. It's all enough to make you go shopping for hair shirts again!

It might not have been the most wonderful set up in the world but oh for the days of the BRMSB and manufacturers who actually took notice of and used the standards it published. Those standards are still around and could, if needed be updated so why don't 'manufacturers' use them? Or is it because they are not 'manufacturers' in the real sense of that word?

Part of me wants to join in on this thread -

Watching the covering of HM Queen's funeral, I noted one comment that the coffin of King George VI was conveyed from London to Windsor by train.
Just as well that was not planned for yesterday, then - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-berkshire-62952485
I feel very sorry for those who's journeys were disrupted or even thwarted.

Morning Cap'n,
The train had to go to a specific line at Windsor in order to transfer the coffin. I'm not sure if what is on the other side of where the transfer would take pace would still be accessible and if there's room to re-lay the line in question. You also need somewhere to put the second train (yes, the plan involved two trains) and even back along that required some track to be laid to deal with them. Top & tail wouldn't be a problem at all but it's a matter of gaining access to the right part of the station and that might no longer be possible. the other problem is that the route available for the public to see the cortege would be very short (from either station) which would lead to crowd control problems. I suspect that rail to windsor was taken out of the plan a good while back?

....is so happy to welcome a second grandchild into the world.
Such personal joy at such a sad time.

ever heard of operation London Bridge?
-
Technically it isn't 'operation London Bridge' but it is the code name for a series of plans - which are no doubt still reviewed regularly - for dealing with what is to be done in in respect of arrangements etc after the death of the Monarch (and which may also used for other very senior members of the Royal Family).
I have only ever seen, and was years ago involved in updating, one small - but quite important - part of it and no doubt that is the case with many other organisations which are only interested in their ownparticular part of the overall plan.

ABe 8/12 - St. Moritz - Tirano!
-
Ah, marvellous, Returning over the RHB to Tirano on the second evening I stayed there the train ran into the station and almost every passenger had left n by the time the border police hurriedly emerged from a nearby bar to roars of laughter from any locals standing around to watch. BTW are the standard gauge 'preserved' FS items still standing there rotting away at Tirano?

I have a parcel coming with a courier.
They have sent me an email telling me the parcel is at their sortation facility.
-
You were lucky - I'm expecting a parcel (a book) so I was alitt;e surprised half an hour ago when a DPD van drew up at the gate as I thought the book was coming via RM. But it definitely wasn't the book - it was an ironing board (and before you ask I am not passed out as competent on either ironing boards or ironing)
