The PXA covered steel carriers were a wagon I never expected to see RTR but delighted that Cavalex are doing them. I use to see them regularly during my school holidays in the 80’s/90’s setting off on the Hamworthy goods. I’m currently working through a rake of BDA’s, of which a long line could usually be found on the long siding beside Hamworthy Park. I remember the Carters of Poole branded wagons and the pair with the larger brandings are absolutely superb to see included for release. These along with a triple pack will allow so many typical workings to be created from that era. The flex hood is a work of art with the creases and dips from the way it’s tensioned along the wagon. Definitely been worth waiting for 30 odd years for these to come along. All the best Mark

Hi everyone, I was very fortunate to get a very close look and handle these box wagons back in June at DEMU showcase exhibition. I hadn’t paid much attention to them when first announced as I didn’t think I needed them on any layouts, until I realised they worked on the stone trains to Hamworthy. There are several pictures in the early 2000’s of 10 wagons hauled by a 60 which is a perfect sized train to model. They continued to run in mixed rakes with other boxes tight up to much more recent times too. They capture the solid bulk of the real wagon in model form but are also very finely detailed all round. The bogies and underframe detail is absolutely superb, they rolled very freely and have a nice amount of weight. I will be looking forward to getting a rake of these once available. Morecambe joins the nuclear revolution! Our shop stock arrived at Rainbow Railways today (apart from 1 number to follow) so I got my new FNA-D’s. Perfect for Morecambe and both my future Cumbrian Coast layout and Highland Mainline with a pair of Accurascale PFA’s. These flasks are very free running, fine crisp detail all round with nice pipe work underneath. The paint finish and printing captures the wagons in service condition accurately. Ideal to mix in formations with the Bachmann model. Well done to the team at Revolution and the support of DRS to make these happen.

Hi everyone, Our Viridian Green examples arrived with us yesterday and we got a fair number of orders out before the courier came. Colin & Mike then picked a large batch of orders that went out today so should arrive tomorrow and Monday. My postie called yesterday with my Brunswick Green version of Caroline from Revolution Trains. I purchased Kernows 37418 specifically to recreate the Sweet Caroline Railtour, which I was very fortunate to be invited on, thanks to the team at Revolution. It’s fitted with an ESU v5 lok pilot decoder which gives you the correct number of full power and auxiliary functions to control the impressive array of lighting functions, Head and Tail lights, large roof lights, interior lights and the two small solebar lights you can see next to the double yellow steps. It’s a stunning model with so many individual detail parts to recreate this unique coach. Our Viridian Green exclusive version for Rainbow Railways will be arriving with us this week and we will be ready to start despatching orders as soon as they arrive. Hi Vanbasher, We will have our Caroline’s from Revolution towards the end of this week and will start sending as soon as we get them. As for Decoders I got my Brunswick Green version yesterday and have tested it with a couple of decoders. Its final choice is an ESUV5 Lokpilot which gives you all the functionality the model allows. Hi Steve, Rodders has EM’d a pre production sample and another was running on Oldshaw when it was at Glasgow so should be fairly straight forward to drop replacement wheel sets in. You will need to move brake gear to align. Hope that helps Thanks Mark

Hi, sorry to hear you’ve had a couple of issues - the brake lever has a couple of locating points that should slot back in - I’ve seen one other like that which didn’t have any glue applied so a little dab should fix that back in place. As to the weight of an end cap is loose you can access it to glue back but if not it should settle in the bottom and not affect running. Hope that helps Mark

You can at least hopefully get a branded FNW unit and then remove the branding to create the model you want. It’s easier for the manufacturer to print on and then work out the best method to remove. It might work in your favour as it will help create the shiny clean paint underneath the vinyls where the lettering was? Thanks Mark

Hi Ben & Mike, I’ve submitted an EOI for the 175’s in FNW livery just as I remember travelling on them. I wasn’t sure from the form if this would be a 2 or 3 car set so only put 2. If both are are offered I would have a pair of 2 car and a pair of 3 car as they really do fill a missing gap for the period I want y to I model. As built the ladder positions are correct. In later years after moving to Clay use some appear to have got moved but dating this accurately and on only a few wagons would have increased costs and left locating holes on the solebars. We did however model the two different manlids as the main difference seen throughout their use. I will look out for photos once you’ve added a bit of weathering and have them running in the speedlink workings on your layout. They will look good passing through. thanks Mark

Hello everyone, Firstly thank you for the kind comments about our team at Rainbow Railways. Colin, Mike and I are all modellers and we try our best to make sure we can get enough models that you all want and provide a good service. Special thanks to Patrick and Stephen for sorting out our trade orders and getting them out so quickly. All our trade order of these first three had sold out but Mike purchased a few extra via the customer side when they became available to try and ensure everyone got one at the normal price that had been after them. I think we have one 37423 left over on our website to purchase now. I have to say I’m delighted to get my hands on 37419 with sound. I saw the real loco at Derby last year sat in the yard at Loram on a test train. What the photos don’t do justice is the depth of detail on the bogies and underframe pipe work. The full springs and brake actuators are very nicely done. The nose end detail is good and captures the modern 37/4’s under DRS well. The lighting features are good on DCC and I do like the lit dials in the cab. The sound is very impressive, the bassy speaker just gives it a presence and even sat idling away you can’t help but smile. Morecambe is only 4ft on the scenic section but setting it off and using the drive hold feature on F7 you can open it up and the thrash is excellent. I’m very impressed with it and in my opinion it’s the best RTR sound fitted model yet. All the best Mark
