  1. I was taking a couple of friends in Oxfordshire to lunch when local white van man ran into the back of my car at a junction. Drivable home with caution but almost certainly a write off and friends still in Banbury A&E being checked out.

    Bu**er!

When I had a similar experience some years back and my wife developed whiplash quite a few days afterwards and nothing initially the specialist said that was how it normally develops. As such insurance Co’s are usually wary of anybody who claims whiplash injury at the immediate time of the accident I.e. as they exit the vehicle.

If it is a write-off I hope you get what it costs to obtain a similar age replacement. Even though mine was just coming up to 3 years old I had to fight tooth and nail to get anywhere near what was needed, and then didn’t get it all. All they want to give is trade-in value at most. My wife’s whiplash injury compensation didn’t even make up the shortfall. Trust you may have better luck.

      Insurance companies are the suck.

That said, our current one seems better. I haven't tried them with a wrecked car though.

Thanks for the support. Izzy is right and my neck is hurting more now than this morning. My passengers are suffering far more so we will be looking at personal injury claims.

The car is eleven years old so the difference in value probably won't be as significant as with a newer one. It was a good car though and buying a new one will be a hassle. Annoyingly I'd only just had it serviced.
