  1. Hi, I've just had the latest Dapol Collectors Club newsletter brought by postie, containing an order form for the club exclusive 'Trilogy' of coaches: Oil lit mahogany 3rd brake numbers 810 and 801 and composite number 212. Available as; no light bars fitted / DCC Ready light bars fitted / DCC light bars fitted. No further update on release. Regards, Gerry.
  2. Hi, I was very disappointed to see that the EOI comment for this in the current September Railway Modeller, and for the GT3/Fell/Shark projects, was 'lost' near the end of a headline heavy Leader/Clayton 00 heading. As I've commented previously on this issue with another suppliers EOIs, I do wonder how many N gauge modellers would have bothered on the off-chance to read all the way through the item to find something maybe relating to their own interest! I only did so because that was precisely what I expected to find! Regards, Gerry.
  3. I can certainly understand the reasoning, but I would offer the following observation. I quickly registered my EOIs for both the Cl89 and Caroline in N, and although if either fail to make the numbers I might be disappointed I am sure there are others who might have greater feelings about the missed opportunity. There is an excellent prompt in the current N Gauge Journal (Jul-Aug 4/20) which arrived today with a 4 page round-up of RevolutioN N projects and a back cover advert, but I do note that the news coverage in the 2 monthly magazines I get – Model Rail and Railway Modeller – seems to me a little bit lost. In MR 275 (July) there is a heavy emphasis on these as OO announcements, with the N EOIs as brief bullet points at the end of both. In RM (July) Caroline gets the same treatment without a bullet point to hopefully draw any attention to it, and I guess because it refers to Rails of Sheffield there is no mention at all about N Cl89 EOI that I can see. I can’t help feeling that those N-gaugers who browse the monthlies for their main information sources, at least in these two cases, and are not NGS members or followers of the RMweb/NGF forums may not be aware because the OO emphasis might have meant they’ve glossed over these magazine news items altogether. I don’t intend this as a criticism, just as an observation if the EOIs fail to reach sufficient levels. Regards, Gerry.

  6. Hi Gary, From considerable experience I can confirm that the deposit does indeed secure the earlybird price, so when your balance becomes due you'll have no worries on that score. My ever growing collection in N has almost always been funded this way as I tend to over indulge in quantity... Regards, Gerry.
  7. Hi, Expressions of interest are now being sought: https://www.krmodels.co.uk/collections/n-gauge/products/king-class-steam-locomotive Regards, Gerry.
  8. Hi, I've quite enjoyed these and am wavering somewhere between "harmless" and "mostly harmless" when I consider the presenter personality aspect, so much so that when he turned up a couple of times on the Nighy voice-overed Scenic Railways last week it barely registered... The scripts Bill is given leave a little room for the rare giggle here and there, but that just adds to his endearing persona in my view. Regards, Gerry.
  9. Hi, Just to add clarity, Ben stated Rapido had notified RevolutioN just before the Bank Holiday weekend that shipping was expected in 5 - 6 weeks. 15. Hi, It seems to me that at least some people are either confused, or maybe clutching at straws, when it comes to the Arnold Brighton Belle. Simon Kohler made it very clear just after the BB was announced that it had: Well, with Hornby back at Margate and SK back at Hornby I am certain the prospect of a sudden turn around from there is among the most unlikely of things that can be expected to happen. The recent BB re-issue being more about return on investment than any fundamental change in attitude towards N. It could be seen to signal to other manufacturers that the way is almost certainly clear to develop their own, but who will want to risk the level of investment solely in an N gauge APT-P project? I can't help wondering if Kato, having announced the Class 800 as an almost inevitable opening for them into British Prototypes, might be tempted by a big project as iconic as anything that has operated on British rails? They have a history with multiple units, and might just possibly see it as a way to raise their brand name in this country to a higher degree than the, to outsiders at least, bewildering number of important but notionally mundane mu subjects to follow on from the Class 800. They probably could create quite a spread of interest in their already established world wide market, their Japan-centric mu sets do have such a following. At present, although it isn't a r-t-r project, progress has continued on a 3D printed set and may deliver a viable 'one piece at a time' certain solution for those willing to take on that challenge. Regards, Gerry.
  16. Hi, When the steam-driven boy saw the topic title his first thought was about having to add OO to his addiction. He's relieved to see it's only resulted in a much needed Monday morning outburst of laughter and a feeling of sadness for the beloved B-L brand name. Regards, Gerry.
  17. Hi, Although I no longer have a copy of the mag my old 'puter magazine database shows there was an article of 3.5 pages in the August '06 Model Rail by Robert Stephens, one of a series on wagon scratchbuilds, comprising 4mm templates for the major parts along with prototype and model photos. There are regular 4mm plans, including a larger scale side view of the end latching mechanism, in Railway Wagon Plans 1960s to the Present by John L Fox. Regards, Gerry.
