  1. Hi all, Please note the reference to The N Gauge Society isn't quite right! It is the NGS Forth & Clyde Area Group that are attending and providing a range of demonstrations of N Gauge modelling. A fair range of subjects will be covered! So far - Building NGS kits, Building Laser Cut buildings. Decal and weathering models. As usual we are quite happy to answer any queries on N Gauge subjects, not just the Society but general queries about N Gauge modelling. See you at the show! Phil H - NGS - F&C Area Group
  2. Gareth, Can I ask which list is correct? The list on here shows different prices to the website which does not have all the items on the list either. I'm holding off on ordering the N Gauge stuff I want until I can be sure about the prices! Thanks Phil H
  3. Hi Chris, Bogie Bolster - not 100% sure which variety though. Probably a Macaw H - going by the brake gear/levers. Phil H
  4. Hi Martin, I've only seen Sturgeon with cranes in preservation. Embsay and Bolton Abbey Railway have (had) one. Are you sure it was a sturgeon with cranes? I can think of Elk and Salmon with cranes. Phil H
  5. Hi there, These all look very good! That leaves you needing to tell us what the sales details for each item are and how we buy the stuff? 6 x LNER/BR biffer stops 12 x LNER style lamp 6 x LMS style lamp Phil H
  6. HI all, Time to bite that bullet.... I'd like to be able to make videos of some of the modelling I get up to. I've no idea of the technology I will need to use! I've looked at a lot of videos online and noted the somewhat sparse details of the equipment used. It seems to range from simple camera phones to full proffessional gear - so I'm thoroughly confused and unsure about the equipment I should choose. Any suggestions - all welcome! Phil H

  9. Hi all, Over the 3 days of Moderail Scotland I had a lot of interest shown in this project and gained more info as well! I showed my initial artwork and that generated even more interest. Just a shame the interest didn't produce any more photos! Please note - these are done to N scale and, as they have been designed to fit on the Farish 57' GUV (there is no 54' coaching stock available as a model) are not scale models! So, research has shown that there was some variation between the coaches. Solme appear to be a lighter shade of BR Maroon compared to others. Some also appear to have had the centre door windows painted over. Then we have some that never carried the wording! Anyway, photos of the draft artwork, ready to print onto either decal paper or vinyl. Thanks Phil H
  10. Hi John, Thanks - much appreciated. Email to follow shortly! Phil H
  11. Hi Steve, Thanks for the posting - much appreciated. I thought I had seen info on modelling these, but could not find the thread! Now I know why. Book references... Mainly information from the same sources as you stated. "BR Parcels and Passenger-Rated Stock" Vol 1, David Larkin, (Kestrel Railway Books, 2014) "British Railways Pre-Nationalisation Coaching Stock" Vol 1 (Longworth) "LNER Carriages" by Michael Harris Also photos in other books covering ECML Scottish Region, BR Coaching Stock Group on IO Groups. I don't have the GER extracts, but as you say, not a lot there that isn't already known. Thanks Phil H EDIT - Steve, found the original thread.... Looked at Internet Wayback Machine and got all the text but still not your photos

  17. Hi there, I am a member and have been going through the 1957 documents already. That's a great start, but I'm looking for information for other years to see if there are patterns in the formations. Then I can pass on the information and let the guy make his own choices. Thanks Phil H
  18. HI all, Trying to help out another modeller after he asked questions at an exhibition. ECML - Local trains - to be modelled in N/2mm Scale Edinburgh - North Berwick and North Berwick - Edinburgh Edinburgh - Berwick and Berwick - Edinburgh Edinburgh - Newcastle and Newcastle - Edinburgh To cover period 1953 to 1963 - looking for sample train formations for these routes. Currently searching internet sources and getting ready to do a book search. Any help appreciated. Phil H
  19. Hi there, The other busses in this series have had a retail of about £56.00 Thanks Phil H
  20. Hi Phil, I'm partway through that process myself. Just been marking chassis parts, ready to cut to length, sizing rest of body parts and modifications to cab. Ready to start next time I have 'lump' of time without any disturbances! Do you have more photos of yours? Phil H
  21. Hi all, l'm also interested in the N Gauge versions of these models. Like Steven, I want to replace my PG Models ones! Any ideas of delivery schedule Gareth? Thanks Phil H
  22. Hi Andy, I have wired JST plugs and loose sockets - standard ones appear to be 1.2mm pitch. The Bachmann ones are 1.0mm pitch and I've not found any of those. Still looking though! Thanks Phil H
  23. Hi Andy, Thanks for the links - The loco board is available but the wired plug I need to go between the loco and tender is not. I've put the meter on the wires and tracked the wiring back from the loco tothe tender. I'll replace all the wires and give them the correct NMRA compliant wires. Like you, I don't know why the connector has 8 pins but only needs 6 wires. Maybe due to some loco versions having smoke as well as lights? The board itself is a Soundtraxx ECO one and should have the same connector positions as the Tsunami upgrade board. Thanks Phil H
  24. Hi all, One of our NGS Area Group members asked mew to look at one of these for his son. It's a DCC Sound fitted one, but, the wiring harness from the loco to the tender has broken. Bachmann Spares used to have this available, but no longer! So, I'm looking at replacing the plug, socket and wiring to get the thing working again. Problems? Yes - all the wires are black! Yes - the loco is wired non standard, not NMRA compliant. So, does anyone know what pins are what on the loco socket? Bachmann manual/diagrams do not have a wiring schematic. Any ideas as to which pin is which on the loco? Thanks Phil H
