  1. Hi Grahame, Already found on eBay and 2 copies ordered. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/126168711704?hash=item1d603dc218:g:qAUAAOSwhu5lRQ6t Will be displayed on NGS Forth & Clyde stands at future exhibitions. Thanks Phil H Thanks
  2. Hi Grahame. Thats great to here/ Once again had the other issues on the NGS area group strand at Dundee. Still lots of interest and requests about how to get copies. Information passed on - so hopefully will generate more sales once the new issue arrives! Phil H
  3. Hi all, OK - still looking at the Fork Lift carrying wagons - MHE Looking at the various photos - I need to find some different suspension units for one of the wagons. Using the 009 society chassis works for 2 of the wagons - need to make body to sit on them, but they have the right suspension/bearing type. The other wagon needs some 'Hudson Raletrux' suspension/bearings. They are available in other scales, just not found them in 4mm scale yet! See attached snip from a 1/32 scale wagon kit. So, are they available in 4mm scale and I've not found them or are they something I'm going to have to make from scratch? Thanks Phil H
  4. Hi all, Some time doing internet searches whilst I was waiting for my hospital appointment.... What did I find out? Flat Wagons - different locations made different versions. DH889 - Hudson - Dean Hill modification Unidentified - Hudson - Dean Hill modification Unidentified - unknown (ex Trecwyn) Unidentified - unknown (ex Trecwyn) Ramp Wagons - DH247 - Hudson - Dean Hill modification DH135 - Hudson - Dean Hill modification Unidentified - unknown (ex Trecwyn) Unidentified - unknown (ex Trecwyn) Nearly all the photos I have found are of the Dean Hill modified ones but a couple of photos show the ex Trecwyn ones which are very diffferent to the Dean Hill ones. Any other input would be appreciated! Phil H ps - first attempt at modelling a Dean Hill set is on my workbench now - photos to follow once I start sticking things together.
  5. Hi all, Some MAN British Army trucks are starting to appear in 1/76 scale.... This seller on eBay is one source. https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/feather3dprinting Not sure what the range is - I've messaged asking but no reply yet - I note eBay say he is away at present though. Phil H
  6. Hi all, OK, things have been quiet with me - having an eye condition has really slowed my modelling down. However, I've now had my first cateract op and can report that I can see almost normally from that eye, just need the other one done! I've not been wasting time though, lots of research has been done..... As a result I have additional quests to resolve areas where I am lacking information or/and photos. Priority one? RNAD Dean Hill - Fork Lift carrrying wagons. So far I've identified 2 different versions but don't have enough photos to come to a conclusion about them. They appear to be conversions from standard RNAD Flat or Single Plank wagons. But, one of the chassis appears to be different from the RNAD standard ones. Anyone know if drawings exist of both the carrying and ramp wagons? More photos would be a big help! Thanks Phil H
  7. Hi all, OK - a bit more on more modern munitions.... Apparently most of the navy munitions stopped being carried loose or on cradles and went into palleted cases. This followed the introduction of standard pallet sizes as part of the NATO standardisation. So far I've been told standard ISO pallet sizes with cases to that size. Standard NATO pallet 1200mm x 1000mm See https://thinkdefence.wordpress.com/2014/11/15/military-boxes-pallets-containers-part-2-pallets/ ISP2 cases See https://www.peli.com/eu/en/product/isp-cases/isp2-case/eu080040-2020 Designed for use with the NATO Pallet, the ISP2 case system can be cross-stacked to form a stable load. The columnar ribs in the case walls can support a much taller pallet stack than corrugated boxes. Other things RNAD.... Forklift transportation wagons. Were these simply converted by the variuos sites or were some built new by Hudson? Drawings and photos not published would be a great help! Thanks Phil H
  8. Relevant to the topic, but not exclusive to it! Royal Navy munitions Post Falklands era. I'm trying to collect info and photos of some of the later munitions used by the RN and stored at Dean Hill prior to being moveer to other locations after the closure of the site. Does anyone any suggestions of how to find out more info and photos to help with this? Phil H
  9. Hi Paul, Thanks for the details - much appreciated. I've checked back and I didn't pay those prices! Payment records (from bank) show I paid £120 plus p&p for each 4 pack - I had pre-ordered them as soon as the announcement was made. Thanks Phil H
  10. Hi all, There are plus and minus points to the release of items through EFE Rail.... Yes - it's great that producta previously released are getting back onto the market. But -Look at the cost! The PRA SRP is £52.95 - that's almost double the price it used to be. It's this sort of thing that is pricing so many modellers out of the hobby. Thanks Phil H
  11. Hi Grahame, I'll certainly be buying your next issue once it appears (2 copies please!) Having been using the previous issues as display material on the NGS - Forth & Clyde area Group stand at exhibitions they are always a point of interest with visitors. So much so that I've had a couple of my copies removed from the stand! So - that's a big 'Yes - More issues please' from me. Thanks Phil H
  12. Happy to confirm that NGS Forth & Clyde Area Group will be providing a stand at the show. It;s still to be decided what the demo's will be. Scenics/buildings a possible subject. Also kit built rolling stock from the NGS kit range plus Coach building with etched brass. Might well have some 3D printed stuff on the stand - depends on it being delivered on schedule! Phil H
  13. Hi all, I'm gathering info for this project in N. I'm trying to find out the set numbers and which wagons were in each set. Normal set was of 5 wagons. Knowing the wagon numbers is easy, but putting them in rakes is the question I need answered! Photos would also be a great help - all of mine were either on an Instamatic or a Zenith E and have not stood the test of time..... Thanks Phil H
  14. Hi all, For my N gauge PCA repaints I used Dove Grey... Then I noticed that it's almost the same colour as Halfords grey Primer for plastic!!! Thanks Phil H

Second of our planned Modellers Skills days More to come during 2023 Watch for details as we get them set up. Knightly Gaming Hopetown Street Bathgate Currently sorting out the content - expect things to vary though as it depends on who is available and willing! Keep up to date via Facebook.... https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100086733866545
  18. Hi Andy, Ebay is still a help - if not as great a one as it used to be. West Coast Models - https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/westcoastmodels?_trksid=p2047675.m3561.l2559 Plus the ones already listed in the responses on here. Thanks Phil H
  19. Well - our Skills day at Bathgate came and went! Thanks to everyone who took part - your support is really appreciated. To those of you who could not make it - you missed a good meet up of like minded modellers. Some of us did get some modelling done and we all did a lot of talking! My own personal feeling is that it was a partial success, but an event that can be repeated and improved in several ways. I know today was a bit of a mess about - several people who had offered to demo things could not attend - various reasons inc weather. I never managed to get myself set up to demo - too many other people wanted to talk to me. I did manage to get to sit down a couple of times, but did a heck of a lot of walking about! I know as my step count was 200% of daily target at 17,192 for the day! At my stride length that is 17192m! The concept of the skills day proved to be a successful format for both the group and the venue. The organisation of what's on at a skills day needs to be better. Demonstrations need to be available as planned and advised Event timing may need tweaked - Start earlier, finish earlier, finish later? With this all in mind...... We have provisionally booked another session for Saturday 14th January 2023. Thanks Phil H
  20. Hi all, OK - minor update...... Of the 2 circuit boards in the Lenz unit - it is confirmed that it is the power amplifier board that is fried on mine. The digital control circuit board is undamaged! So, a bit of a double edged sword situation..... Phil H
  21. Hi TWG, I'll try to keep people up to date as things develop. I'm hoping to get a call back from Lenz with more information. Thanks Phil H
  22. Hi Kev, I took photos, spoke with Lenz, sent photos and info about my situation and what the UK Agent has said to me. They will look into that. If I send the unit direct to them they would replace it with the new, upgraded unit - at a discounted cost though. Only one of the circuit boards is showing scorching (tracks plus silicon) and marks on it and the case from jetting (capacitors) The venue was large and on 3 phase power - it appears that one phase went wild as the lights were not affected and only some socket circuits were affected as well. I was plugged into one of the sockets that usually have electric space heaters in them. It's partially my fault as I didn't make sure the control system was plugged into the surge protected extension. I've had some offers of help with replacing it from members on here - if that's you - thanks and I'll let you know shortly. None of this changes the fact that the UK Agent feels he is unable3 to help - so badly affected that he is considering giving up the business all together. Phil H
  23. Hi Kev, What you have said about charges matches what the UK Agent has said to me, The Set 100 has sent out the magic smoke - quite a big cloud of it! Visible burn marks to the electronics in the box. When checked on the meter it shows no output. It appears that the transformer sent a surge out when the brown out cleared and that over voltage has done the damage. Checked transformer and seems to be OK, but I won't be taking the chance of using it as a DCC power source any more - relegated to the stand LED lighting circuit. The Compact that was acting as a 2nd controllede is also fried - smoke came out of that as well and no output on test. Thanks Phil H
  24. Hi Mick, Agreed, Lenz have always been helpful in the past with both support responses and spare bits supplied. I've just been in touch with Lenz and they advised me to go through the UK agent. I will go back to them now that the official UK agent has said what they have and see what they have to say. Thanks Phil H
