About Me

I had never really been into Model Railways and never had a train set when I was young. I had always been interested in all things industrial and steam related from when my dad used to take me to the Birmingham steam rallies in the 70's at the old science museum opposite the Birmingham post office tower. My dad used to work for Hunt Bros in Oldbury and they used to own an old steam traction engine and the Wonderland Pat Collins Fair steam organ that was always at the rally. Therefore I used to get to play on the footplate of the traction engine, I used to love the smell of oil and steam. I also remember being taken to see the steam trains and sheds at Tyseley, so I think this is where my interests came from but it was always with the real thing rather than models.

In 2006 I got interested in model railways after visiting the Warrington and the Rainhill model rail exhibitions. I went purely out of curiosity to see what was possible. I could not believe the level of detail that was achievable and that was it I was hooked. I had always done Airfix kits when I was young so I wondered if I could still do it? So after couple of months of reading magazines and researching on the internet I decided to go for it! Thus began John Geeee's OO Garden Shed.

So please feel free to read my modelling blog and let me know what you think of a layout built by an absolute model railway beginner. Hopefully if I can show how my skills improve it will inspire other beginners to believe that they can also create something to be proud of.

Cheers

John Geeeee
