  1. I have now obtained another kit, this time with all lost wax castings so it will be interesting to see how things pan out.   This one will be in green but the jury is still out as to whether a syp will appear, watch this space.Number range D6313 - 6333.

Our shipping agents in Hong Kong have confirmed that 3 pallets of the Class 14 models shipped on Friday 3rd September as below.

    CMA CGM BOUGAINVILLE/0FM83W1MA

    ETD HK 3 SEP

    ETA SOU 6 OCT

With an estimated arrival in Southampton of the 6th October, the latest we should receive them is around the 10th-12th of that month.

However they are still trying to secure one pallet to come via airfreight, but have advised that there is at least a 3 week delay, due to the backlog of goods awaiting an aircraft. We have agreed to make a decision about waiting next Monday (13th September) as if we cannot get an earlier flight, the models arriving by sea will get here first….which rather destroys the reasoning for paying the premium in the first place!

We will update further as and when we have more news.

    Chris

Just been out watering the pots and was joined by this little one, carefully making her way along the pyracantha to her evening meal in the fat ball cage. She came and went several times and was totally concentrated on her food and did not mind me shoving my phone camera within inches of her nose.

  5. Hi Hal,

thanks for the heads up, but it would involve more than the sides and I am having to curtail ‘kit building and bashing’ due to eye problems, hence going for the RTR option.

    kind regards

  6. I have four of these coaches and a very pleased with them. I ordered a Darstead RMB to run in the rake, expecting coupling issues as noted above, but there are height issues that cannot be dealt with

so the RMB is being returned and I will have to wait and hope that Dapol bring out an RMB of their own in due course.

  8. We have three peanut feeders and a fat ball feeder hanging from brackets on the fence posts opposite our french doors and kitchen which provide with a great deal of entertainment but the strangest thing is that the squirrels have taken to rounding off their peanut meals by coming down onto the shingle that covers most of the ground in this area of the garden and carefully selecting a piece and then run off with it in their mouths, we assume to bury as a diversion to where they actually bury the peanuts. They always leave the garden so we do not know what happens, has anyone else seen this occurring?

  9. We have a number of squirrels that frequent the garden and make use of the three peanut feeders and generally ignore the fat ball feeder which is the domain of the small birds. The feeders are located opposite the dining room and kitchen windows so that we get the full picture of the feeding activities. Whenever the squirrels are feeding we make a point of opening the French doors and talk to them and they are now used to this intrusion on their feeding. However, a younger squirrel has recently joined the feeding party and being low down in the pecking order had to wait for his turn on the nut feeders so made his way to the fat ball feeder..................

    Hi Coachman,

I have an O Gauge Q13 in the pile to do but before that, I must finish what has become a 'shelf queen' - the H33 Restaurant Coach conversion to the S&T Inspection Saloon KDW150266. I am using the JLTRT kit for the Restaurant Coach and this is the story so far. The lower two elevations show the sides marked up prior to the 'cut and shuffle' exercise for the new door installations together with the location of the additional window. The windows in the ends were built up having formed one large aperture.

The coach is preserved on the East Lancs Railway, unfortunately, not in the period that I am modelling, but a prototype reference all the same.

Hopefully I will be dusting the box off in the very near future.

Just for completeness, I did finish the S & T Inspection saloon

The one thing that leaps out at me - and I'm surprised nobody has commented on this - is the graining on the doors, which should be horizontal on the lower panels, in line with the rest of the carriage.

Oddly enough, Hornby made the same mistake with the first run of their 00 Gresley corridor stock.

  12. Hi Chris's,

A winner for sure, well done.

Will the headcode letters/numerals also be on the Railtec sheet?

Will the running lights be wired up?

    Stay safe and well

    regards

    Mike
