Probably not much help but this is part of a Forfar advert for Coals etc., I'm assuming Hamilton, Ell. Dunfermline, Balquhatstone and Wishaw are Collieries? Of (distant) interest to me is that Smith, Hood & Co. had a depot at Inverkeilor - my generations of families home - though I was only aware of Thomas, Muir & Patton having an office there at one time.

If your desperate for some early cars at circa 1:76 scale - but all E.& O.E. Then I have these plastic four, which have rattled around in a box for decades. They are a bit crude???? -
Abingdon and District MRC 50 Years - ABRAIL 24 - 2nd/3rd March

'the album.'. Phew, that's a lot. '... I was not able to get photographs of every layout..'. Unfortunately. Excellent set of photo's over 2 pages, thankyou. -
I found a Keil Kraft kit in a local Charity shop for £2, this became a LNWR Omnibus 😎 Myself, via ModelU waiting to board....

Thank you 65179, I think the van in the mystery photo has a lower roof edge than 5' 6" though. There are various lines of enquiry going on now, hopefully something satisfactory will be found soon. The Midland Rly moved a lot of tinplate out of the Swansea area, but as far as can be ascertained this was in the Midland Rly's standard vans and sheeted wagons - source John Miles 👍.

OK, I'm going off topic, but in view of the depth of knowledge by contributors to this topic, there may be someone (or more) who may be able to direct myself and a.n.other to perhaps a better understanding as to what the Van shown was used for, in view of it's low roof line. The photo appears to be post grouping. I would think the lettering on the end of the van is 'X & Co', there appears to be a 'logo' of sorts on the door(s) and lettering on the side panels. I can't readily make out if there is any sort of roof 'door'. The line of timber (pit props) in the background is 'interesting', I think :-) The origin of this photo is obvious - from Facebook.

I saw a lot of people moving behind the layout, but I thought for the expanse of the layout there could have been a little more action on the rails - so yes I did see things moving ON the layout, but I admit I might have liked a little bit more action.

Beijiao, Back in the mid 1990's, I was working in China and I was surprised at just how many (not all) properties had 'air conditioning' plants on the outside of each apartment, well replicated on this layout. I recall some of the 'Lock-up' premises, say a one car sized unit, closed up at night and that's were the person/people lived, their bed etc., could be seen in the back of the units. I have the impression the catering on the Beijiao passenger coaches will be a lot better than when I was travelling around, kettle heated on a primus type unit, and stained tea cups, fortunately they seemed unable to serve us Europeans. The toilets, forget them. I was impressed when I saw the layout pre-Covid, so it was nice to see it again.

Restaurant? 😳 Oh, I missed that, now I look at the guide (at home in Mousehole, PZ), it's in very small type in top LH corner of Guide. I don't recall it being sign posted either, the toilets, yes.... I was leaving when the good Captain arrived, so missed the opurtunity for a chat, even though I'm deaf! ! ! ! ! . Yes, agree a very good show, worth the 300 mile round day trip.

Apart from a comment by John Miles back in 2014, I don't think 'Penlan' has appeared in this topic. ShouldI upload some photo's?

A nice article on a making a 4mm scale Cambrian Railways Omnibus by Richard Loydall. Coincidentally a local Charity shop had a box of Keil Kraft kits at £2 each and low and behold there was the Type B bus kit, plus the Birmingham 1920 Tram kit (check the windows), £4 well spent. I'm sure, inspired by Richard's excellent example I can create a circa 1910 'Never Has Been' LNWR bus for my Central Wales based layout. The LNWR pre WW1, had booklets promoting Golf Courses, Spa's, etc, near their line. 12th post here before somebody mentions the content...... +

BEIJIAO - a large Chinese HO exhibition layout set in the 21st century
Penlan replied to TEAMYAKIMA's topic in Layout topics
You mention you have done some light weathering, toning down of the various items connected with construction work, and that looks good, the very minor observation I have is that there doesn't seem to be much, if any, company branding on the items (like the roller, cabin etc.,) where I would expect to see the equivalent of say 'Wimpy' such as 'SCG' or 'CSCEC'. I'm looking forward to seeing the layout again I'm when visiting Taunton show this October. -
For those of us who live 'Way Down West', it's very dog friendly place... :-)
