  1. Just to counteract the general (and usual) negativity on here...... Straight from the box mine has run like a dream for approx 1 hour in each direction, on clean/dirty track over insul and electrofrog pointwork it will crawl at scale walking pace perfectly smoothly, perhaps I am lucky but don't think that it is all bad....
  2. Good to see BR were keeping their new traction in good shape to keep up the public image of the new 'clean' diesels, given the fairly early date of that shot!
  3. And the South Eastern side of Victoria, right out to Meopham, plus the Kent lines currently controlled by London Bridge as far as Elmstead Woods! Although unlikely, in the event of a complete failure there would be a lot of stranded people!

Perhaps I should have phrased my original statement better, I would guess the reasoning behind the example raised by yourself is based around an increase in tph along that particular section of line and the need to clear the main lines of reversing trains...... There are plenty of other major projects underway around the network to increase capacity in a similar vein.I was refering to the complete lack of places left on todays network to reverse a service due to a blocked line ahead, be that due to a failed train or engineering works. Or the fact that if a failure occurs in one of the new mega signalling centres entire regions are left with no trains.
  5. They dont build operational flexibility into anything anymore regrettably. All done with an eye on the accounts and nothing else. Even if that operational flexibility may save fines running into tens of thousands in the future...... There is a complete lack of foresight on the part of Network Rail in many of these situations I think....

  7. Stunning modelling and full of North Eastern atmosphere, I am looking forward to seeing the layout at Scaleforum this year - it will certainly make the extended journey from Kent worthwhile. Like Mark, I can also see a return visit to Railex the following May!

  10. Very nicely done. There will be some cursing from the footplate of the A1 rostered to the 'fish' as she struggles to get her train back underway on the rising grade I imagine!
  11. Oh my, I havent had a chance to look into this thread for about 8 days, I come in now and there is so much new material posted it takes about an hour to digest! Ultra pleasant is that, the freshly layed concrete sleepers and new ballast in the foreground make it a real period shot. That shot did indeed cause some irregular behavior. Not a working practice I have seen recorded before. Looks to be mk1 Cortinas heading for a new life north of the border at the front of the train?
  12. Those buildings are identical to the ones in Lock Stock, I thought it a while ago and then had to watch the film to check my mind wasn't playing games!! Cracking photos in the Journal though Kier, I am looking forward to seeing further work progress.

One I have just come across that I do not recall having seen before - A photo in Kidderminster Railway Museum's unidentified archive, someone has put the location as being Shankend, I would have said Steele Road during the last winter with the yard pulled up (looks like Steele Roads platform shelter on the up side) but don't have conclusive evidence to contact the museum and advise them as such..... http://www.krm.org.uk/mystery.htm The photo is on the left 6 images down the page - there is no way of linking to it directly I am afraid. Any thoughts on the location gents?
  14. Lovely shot there Bruce, full of atmosphere, the loco being out of frame adds to that if you ask me!
