  1. Clarence road station was opposite the Police station i think there is one wall of it left standing ! I have got some photos off the net somewhere so will try and put them up for you ! I remember driving past it and following the railway in my dads lorry in the school holidays ! Brian will probably find this subject ! he is the fount of all knowledge on things Cardiff I expect he has some Photos of Clarence road there are a couple of Photos on line if you Google Cardiff Clarence street station, along with the riverside platforms at the General.
  2. Yes I admit some Lima motors just need a clean and an oil but mine needs a power unit change either that or I put some wings on it and call it Tornado (as in the aircraft)) I am loathe to get rid of it as its a bit of a "pet"...hence the re-motoring looks like vi trains /Hornby might be the way to go!
  3. Hello Simon thanks for the reply I will contact the above shop, just a bit wary as its not a model torque one, as I have heard good reports about the model torque makes ...
  4. i have tried to get hold of a model torque motor to re do a Lima 47 but it seems the business has closed down (Inter city models used to supply them) has anyone got any info on an alternative system? i know there is someone selling motors on e bay but not sure of the quality, also the Hornby railroad 47 looks as if it has the same pancake motor fitted as the Lima anybody done something different ?.....

  7. Just got around to reading this section and its great to see the modern 0 gauge coarse scale getting a mention! there are two forums worth looking at the Ace trains forum and the classic 0 gauge index, also Dave Upton sends out a free monthly newsletter called just the ticket well worth a read ! as an aside to running corgi/basset lowke on peco track check out Roy James you tube videos of his dream city railway ,he runs Ace B/L Darstaed on peco 0 gauge track and doesn't seem to have any issues.

  9. Just came across your layout ,superb ! don't know if anyone has mentioned this before but I did have a book when i was a youngster I think it was called modern railways the world over and there was an article titled a Royal Scot visits Camden ( I think) any way there were about 6 pages of photos of Camden with the loco being disposed and coaled etc ..might be a worth a look if you can get hold of a copy? merv from a sunny s wales coast.....
  10. The central workshops for Cardiff city council in Clare road , I was told when I done my apprenticeship that they used to repair the trams there? and they still had the long full length pits in the workshops, don't know if anyone can confirm that it was originally a Tram depot ?
