Another nail in the coffin of kit building.
Mike.
Ohh I dunno, given the likely cost compared to the Parkside kit ( having built several) I think I’ll stick to the kits, especially now they come with transfers etc.
I’ve got several in the stash, but if I hadn’t I must admit I’d probably go for the Baccy job.
Be interesting to see how much they are priced at.

I paid £54 quid each for mine, incredible value for money for what must be some of the best rtr coaches yet.

Fantastic!
Always wanted a fire less loco, ever since I tried to make one from an Airfix Pug driven by an elastic band powering Romford 3 hole disc wheels.
It did run……after a fashion 😆

Both sad and shocking news, and says a lot about the current state of things.
I have been dealing with them for 50 years, half a century and feel for all the staff.
For me it was buying stuff for a hobby, for them it’s their livelihood and I wish them well.
It does make you wonder what you’re going to hear next!
From an 11 year old schoolboy sending a postal order for a Triang Hornby Pannier tank to a 62 year old retiree with pre orders, Hattons, thank you for you service.

Greetings One and all.
My very best wishes for Christmas to you and yours, and here’s to a healthy, prosperous and peaceful new year.
Just off to run in a Accurascale choo choo that Santa brought.
Have a great day, and thoughts to those whose Christmas isn’t as it should be.

How sad is that?
Dave
Sad but true.
Having been an Authorised Firearms Officer for 14 years I can say that with some conviction.

I’m sorry to have to post this but my dear friend Trev Robinson ( Trev218 on the forum) has sadly lost the battle against a very nasty and aggressive brain tumour… poor Trev only had the diagnosis 4 months ago, and died peacefully at home on Sunday evening surrounded by his family.
Trev was a great modeller in N and a lifelong and avid rail fan.
I have been nagging him for ages to get around to building a layout ( his repaints and kit building were excellent) and he recently started a test layout for his grandson…’Just to see how it goes.’
Alas now we won’t get around to the 7mm layout in Trev’s garden, still can always imagine what would have been.
RIP Trev, a truly great friend.

Well it’s just as well I hadn’t got around to fitting screw links and disconnecting the cab light as what was a reasonable runner has developed a pronounced limp and on investigation I discovered the inner plastic part of the left front wheel has split where the axel passes through it along with a spoke split at the outer end and the outer circumference of the plastic wheel insert also has a split where the metal tyre fits over it, very disappointing. So back it must go to Kernow, hopefully for a replacement.
On further investigation the front right wheel also has a split at its centre.
Geoff that’s pretty awful!
I wonder how many more will end up splitting like that, reminds me of the old Mainline wheels with the plastic ‘muffs’….
I was going to order 651, friend of the family used to drive it at Radyr and as I lived just up the road I spent many happy hours trundling around the yard.
I might give Chris a ring at Kernow and see if I can pick one up as a static.

No bowing on mine, let’s hope it stays that way.
Just need some pics of the pallets etc so can crack in with getting some printed…

Likewise…..and I have to agree re the packaging.
Still at least they arrived ( in one piece) and apart from the obvious they are really rather nice, look good and run very well.
I would certainly buy more if there’s a second run.

Hard to believe this was the layout a couple of months ago…
Then the newer members of the hobby were introduced to track planning and laying as opposed to just laying track randomly….And then we went on to the weathering and wiring, a steep learning curve for some.
Despite the difficulty of not having club premises we seem to manage quite well between the local Community Centre and Phil’s garage.
What some of the team lack in experience they make up in enthusiasm and slowly the club is developing.
Plans are already afoot for at least one extra board, and the layout may evolve into an L shape to give a bit more scope.
The decision for the next layout is a bit way off yet, this one was just to see how we worked as a team, and as a bit of a learning exercise for others.
Members now understand the essentials of planning as much as possible, including wheel and coupling standards and just how much work is involved in building, even a small layout, to the stage where it is suitable to go to a public show.

I posted this in 2011.
Most people don’t bother….until it’s too late.
Might help someone tho….

Wearde is the first layout built by members of the newly formed Saltash Model Railway Club.
Most of the members, are relative newcomers to the hobby, and some have never built a layout before.
Its been a steep learning curve, but a few of us are relatively experienced Railway modellers and have been able to offer help and advice as the layout developed.
5 months ago all we had was a pile of sawn ply and a few ideas…..

Tim, at the moment I believe there are 7 going.
We don’t have much info on the other layouts as the event is not being organised by the Club.
Given the size of the venue I would think there will be a selection of smaller layouts but that’s only best guess.
Shame it clashes with my holiday! Next year it is.

I’m thinking of just wiring up one siding, so I too can have a 25 just ticking over…
I’ve sort of inherited some bits of DCC from my dear friend Trev, prob just enough to make it work…
