  1. Thank you Mike.

I asked Digitrains what speaker they would recommend but they asked me to open up the loco and measure what space I had inside. (Not easy when I haven’t got one to open!)  I’m sure I seen on another thread about a sugar cube speaker for the Terrier but for the life of me I can’t find it!

  2. Can someone please tell me what is the largest, or best speaker, to fit into a Dapol 7mm ‘Terrier’?

I am waiting delivery of a non-sound fitted loco and I want to fit it with sound. In the mean time I am going to order a Zimo mx644d 21 pin sound decoder 30x15x4mm from Digitrains but I don’t know the internal dimensions to work out the space available for the speaker.

    Thank you

BTW have should have said that the wagon is plastic, and it does look like the Slaters Kit apart from the sides, wonder if they ever did two versions, though the present kit does say it is to Dia 307 and that is what it looks like?

  4. Another vote here for Chris and the team.

A couple of years ago I bought a second hand Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0T. It has been weathered by the previous owner but otherwise appeared to be in good condition. After some time it was apparent that there was a bit of binding somewhere which spoiled the otherwise excellent running. Looking from underneath the coupling rod seemed to be misaligned. I took a photo and sent it to Chris to see if he had any suggestions and straight away he sent me a complete new set of wheels and coupling rods. When I asked about payment he said that it was obvious that the loco left the factory like that and he felt obliged to put it right.

  5. I haven’t had a chance to reply to you Phil but just to say that I received my membership card and a welcome letter in very quick order along with several back issues of UPDate so I am well pleased.

In the mean time thank you again for your help.

  6. The reason I ask is that I was browsing their website early this morning and decided to join! I clicked on the “Join today” link on the home page of the website and this took me straight to Paypal where I paid my subscription!

I was expecting to be redirected back to the demu website where I would enter my details and choose a user name, etc. so as I could log in. However I was not redirected nor was I asked any further details by the demu website and I am concerned that something is amiss!

There is a facility on the home page to contact the membership secretary and I tried this only to be told that an 'error prohibited this message from being sent because it looks like you are not a human’! There was no facility on the contact page to confirm that I was not a robot so I am not sure where to go from here.

    Thank you

Pair of Minx ordered, still arguing with myself about the Pannier, but I think I will have to move something out first or retire them.

Don't think I can buy 5 plus in Minerva wagons, 2 - 3 each time will be a max for me, love a lo-mac or something similar though.

Where did you order your Mink please Barnaby? I had a look at the Minerva website and all I see is locos!

    Thanks.

  8. Well, I mended the post (it is OK now isn't it?) but now we have every snap twice. That's got to be better than not all!

I still can’t see the originals but I can see you have added them below so much appreciated, thank you.

  9. John, If you are ever over Leitrim way I have several dozen magazines that I am throwing out, including ‘Mainline Modelling’ and ‘Model Railroad News’, plus a few other useful bits and pieces that I can let you have. If you are interested will you send me a PM.

    Thanks.

  10. I was going to come up to Belfast but it is nearly a 2 hour drive, the weather wasn’t very good and there are no catering facilities for visitors at that venue so I gave it a miss. I am hoping to go up to Enniskillen in September. Will you be exhibiting there?

  11. I don`t know if you`ve seen this Blog on the Reading,but it`s quite interesting and he`s a O scaler (P48) as well.

He only models up to 1952,but there is some nice useful info anyway on the site, including this post about open hoppers with a download from a clinic that was given on modeling RDG hoppers from 48'-56'.(near the top)

I have this blog saved somewhere but to be honest I forgot all about it so thank you for the reminder.

By the way Brian, I like your ZKOs on your flickr page.

  12. Hmmm.  The car was built in 1955 and the RDG started using the speed lettering in 1956, so it may have had speed lettering after a repaint, but without the herald.

Thank you for your comment Dave.

#73009 was built in September 1919 and the class were all scrapped by 1964. I couldn’t get the correct decals for this car so I used what I had with the intension of amending the build date before weathering but I forgot so I will patch it out later and add the correct date. This particular car, the 73009, was scrapped in 1959 and as you say, speed lettering wasn’t introduced until 1956 so it may not have carried this livery!

I have a photo of this car in the old “Roman lettering” and it carries the herald so I don’t have an issue with that.

  13. Always liked the six axle RDG locos in the green & yellow livery, especially the big Alco C630`s,but i did often wonder what one would have looked like in the soild green scheme as well..... :scratchhead:

I too started with the Reading when i first went to US O,Mainly because Atlas had just brought out the C425`s & GP35`s.(how i wish i still had them!)

Managed to pick up quite a few loco`s at the time, but sold them on after a few years......other roads bekoned!.

And like yourself i only one photo from then.......

Looking at it now,i realise how ropey the weathering job was!.

    Cheers,

    Brian.

PS you know you want to re-paint the GP7.........

I would love to re-paint it Brian but, apart from not wanting to hack around with this lovely loco, I have too many irons in the fire with not enough time to do everything I want to do.
