  1. I seem to remember an 08 was used on passenger specials at Salisbury. Ran from Salisbury to the Laverstock loop and back to Salisbury. Not long distance but still a passenger working!
  2. A regular Bristol to Weymouth working in the late evenings during the 1960's was a 3 car unit hauling a SR CCT or similar. I was told by station staff at Westbury that the van contained Channel Islands mail. Does anyone have any photos of these workings?
  3. Thanks for that, I had forgotten that they were used as bankers on the Lickey incline! I was particularly interested in their use in multiple in everyday service.
  4. I know that Hymeks were wired for multiple working and had a yellow triangle symbol for this but did anyone ever see two Hymeks working in multiple? Two warships or two NB Type 2 and sometimes warship and NB Type 2 combinations were not unusual but although I saw 94 of the 101 members of this class, they were always working alone. If anyone has any recollection of this, or even better, some photographic evidence I would be very grateful.

Thanks Dave, I am most grateful. What great service. I could not ask for more.

Yes, I have had both bogie frames off and the gears are all well lubricated. There is a large amount of side play in the intermediate gear shafts but this does not appear to be the cause of the noise. I found one of the wires from the pickups was touching the carden shaft coupling and I have bent this out of the way which reduced the noise a bit but I am now faced with either dismantling the chassis to open up the bogies or sending it back. I have been waiting so long for this loco that I can't begin to describe how dissapointed I am! The other factor is that I am not too sure that there would be a replacement available.

Contrary to all the praise on this forum, I am far from happy with the running quality of my 22. When first run it was very noisy and after about 2 hours running in it improved slightly and it was then put away until I had more time. Today has been the first opportunity to really test it and as the day has gone on it has not improved. The main problem appears to be noise from the gears, it sounds like a Mainline 42 that is past its prime! It is certainly the noisiest loco in my fleet. Am I the only one who has this problem?

Now I've sorted out the decoder installation I'm a bit happier but it took about 2 hours of running in to get it to run to an acceptable level. It is still rather noisy but improving as each hour goes by!

Have just received delivery of D6331 and upon removing the body and blanking plate for the DCC chip I was confronted with a 22 pin connector. None of the 21 pin chips that I have will accept 22 pins! Is it me or has a mistake been made?
