  1. At the west end where the track goes to single line, should there be a trap point?
  2. I used a High Level Quad Drive unit that gives you four wheel drive with a bit of rock in one axle.
  3. If you have prepainted the chairs and sleepers, then you are putting a barrier between them which may prevent the glue from working. I always glue my chairs to plywood or plastic sleepers before painting. I have not had any problems with butanone doing it this way. Gordon
  4. Not Hornby Dublo but Triang Hornby, after Triang took over Hornby Dublo.
  5. Most people put uncoupling magnets at the toe of the points.
  6. Thank you for your reply. I will let Mike E know I will be after a kit. Gordon A
  7. 1) Are there half etched lines around the axle holes to facilitate fitting of High Level horn guides and blocks? 2) An extra layer for the coupling rods so they can be built with a knuckle joint? 3) What gauges is the kit designed for? Best of luck with this project. Gordon
  8. A site visit is definitely worthwhile. The main station building is still standing, now a cafe and the signal box.
  9. A bigger letter box slot?
  10. Some branch sheds I believe had a separate water pump near buy to lift water from a river into the shed water tank. This could be driven by steam pressure from the loco.
  11. Looking at your picture I can see curly Pandrol clips and a what looks like flat plate Pandrol clips. Is it one of these types you are looking to get? https://www.pandrol.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/V16025_Pandrol_User_Guide_Update_2021_WEB.pdf
  12. Have you access to Bridges for Modellers book? It contains information on steel bridges.
  13. If axle boxes are built to standard RCH dimensions then they become interchangeable, apart from the roller bearings which I believe are designed for faster train speeds.
  14. Catch point on private siding to protect the main line?
  15. Given that you are restricted to a 4 x 1 base board you ought to be looking at the length points for each scale, combined with what you want to achieve. You would be able to achieve an inglenook style layout in all three scales. Would your stock use commercial couplings as fitted or will you be using the buffers as per the prototype for propelling moves? What size locos would you want to use? That length plus a couple of wagons will dictate where your first point would be placed. Have a look at Ian Rice's and James Hillton's books on small layout designs.
  16. Can you get a cheep flight out to Italy and back?
  17. When they come up at Aldi or Liddle the Parkside rechargeable drills are a good buy.
  18. You would discuss your needs with the Station master who would pass on the details of what, how heavy and to where to a higher authority. He would tell you when the appropriate wagon was dropped off at your local station for loading.
  19. Decide what minimum radius curves you wish your loco to negotiate, then work back from that to calculate how much side play you will need.
  20. From memory remove the screws in the keeper plate on the underside of the chassis.
