  1. I had the same issue with one of my Scotrail coaches. I actually have found it is OK with Hunt couplings and no spring but good to have these other recommendations as a back up!
  2. Ah so I think you could e.g. swap the body but Hornby don't have the components in stock to fix the earlier editions.
  3. Yes also can confirm - had to return my original edition 91 but the latest model runs well. Out of interest, I emailed Hornby to ask if the original edition could be fixed with the components of the later model but the answer is no. The GNER mk4s and 91 can sit on the shop shelf!
  4. Thank you I will try without the speaker and see what happens. Do I need to complete the circuit or will it be OK to just protect the wired ends of the speaker loop? If I end up with a DCC non sound decoder it's better than having to bin it!
  5. Hi all, I have a peculiar problem with a locksound decoder which I wondered if anyone could help diagnose the problem. The symptoms are the speaker emits only a 'rustling' sound but far more concerning is the heat of the decoder. It seems like one of the components is faulty as it gets incredibly hot to the touch- way too hot to hold. Have swapped chips around between locos and it definitely is the chip, have also tried with and without the speaker attached. Is the decoder dead?
  6. Same issue with me - it's very, very difficult to get the body to sit fully snug again. Though I do have similar issues with the older Heljan 33s where the body clips aren't quite 'tight' enough to hold the body down.
  7. https://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/82055/K9925-Bachmann-Class-90---Revolution-Cargowaggon-Pack New deal from Kernow. As the Cargowaggons retail for 359.99 it's quite a saving on those or the 90!
  8. Hello - is fitting the decoder a body off job? Thought I would check before inevitably breaking something!
  9. I'm also waiting for a discount of sorts on 90129, I got caught out with paying full price plus collectors club membership for 90128. Incidentally Kernow have a package deal for 90129 with 2 Heljan Cargowaggon flats for 269 which is a good discount, but I don't need those wagons!
  10. Apologies for digging this up but does anyone have a simple drawing of the wiring required for the lights? I've got the motor working but connecting the white / yellow to the head and tail light connector isn't working for me.
  11. An 805 was stated too over in one of the magazines.
  12. Couple of offers that caught my eye recently: Hornby Virgin 87 at Kent Garden Railways £128 Hornby GNER MK4s at Sawyer Models £30 (DVT is £60) https://kgrmodels.com/product/r3656-Hornby-oo-virgin-trains-class-87-bo-bo-87019-sir-winston-churchill/ https://sawyermodels.co.uk/?product=r40145-Hornby-gner-mk4-standard-accessible-toilet-coach-f
  13. Hello, I have a loft layout and I'm finding that most of my wagon rakes (modern wagons from Dapol, Bachmann and Hornby) are unreliable to run. My Hornby logs (no bogies) used to be freewheeling but now are very firm, the wheels almost feel locked up. My Bachmann intermodals (original type) have a similar issue, as do my Car Wagons. Models with bogies such as my oil and steel sets are fine, so I wondered if there was any advice out there on how to maintain the wheels / bogies on wagons if others are having this issue?
  14. New Yeoman and revised ARC look great. No Hanson though, depsite that being in the N gauge range and the matching wagons have been announced for OO. Perhaps a retailer special?
  15. Are the FGW Green MK3s really printed as dodgily as the images on Hattons suggest? Or is this a one off? I was in the market for both a GNER MK4 set and FGW MK3 set but Hornby have fluffed both (the 91 and FGW printing). I don't have any model shops nearby to review before purchasing and can't be done with the hassle of returning to online stores.
