  1. Of all the Hornby loco's I have, my favorite (so IMHO best) is the little Caledonian blue 0-4-0 that I got when It first came out and I was a small boy (with hand rails too). Yes it goes 3x faster than my IC125 powercar and could not pull the skin off a rice pudding but it sit's quite happily on shed or in a bay platform minding its own business. Although the Black Flying Scotsman I got for Christmas is awesome
  2. now if you could fit a 4 character headcode panel on there it would be the dogs danglies
  3. I dabble with Trainz every now n then, it was cheap on steam. I had MSTS back in the day. What got me back into model railways (after the usual, music, women and beer growing up) was Hornby virtual railway in 1996. I played around building a layout on it and within a year I'd got most of my old stuff from my parents attic and built it for real (a 6x4 roundy I gave to my nephew a few years later when I moved to Malta)
  4. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-by-meccano-ltd-pre-war-/281247890228?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item417bae3b34 Hornby by meccano ltd, all metal, pre war. E45402E Silver windows A bit dirty, otherwise fine. Pre 1st gulf war possibly
  5. If i had more than 8 x 4 feet to play with I'd probably go finescale, but not handbuilt (by me that is)
  6. When my son was born I had a Baby Deltic kit built and named after him
  7. Nice to hear this. I'm 40 and still have some of My models from the 1970's and 80's that my family bought for me.
  8. My wife keeps asking why I get lots of parcels from Sheffield and Liverpool, I tell her I'm a drug dealer
  9. i had a search through the site but didn't see this on rmweb yet http://www.baytvliverpool.com/vod/?vid=PBV52a74c38f2434
  10. I've just ordered my son a Hornby pendolino set so should be lots of fun on xmas day
  11. currently the term "modern image" only seems to apply to the current week. I've got post privatisation stuff that was out of date only a few months later but still looks fantastic (grand central HST, Stobart Rail class 66 etc). My planned layout is of a fictional preserved line so pretty much anything goes
  12. I'd love to get a mixed class 123/124 trans pennine set like i remember travelling to manchester on. Prototype HST too please.
  13. I've just aquired a 160l Fish tank with stand for a bargain eur90.00, then you need to buy gravel, stones, plants, filters, lights, co2 kit, water treatment chemicals. I'm on eur300 so far and no where near putting in any fish. When i do I'm looking at over eur200.00 for the stock i want. I must devote a bit more time to my model railways when this is over, my wallett cannot take this kind of battering
  14. I joined today and ordered mine for a lot less than this
  15. order a pint of lager at the bar (only at the larger shows of course), the real ale crowd will have you lynched in seconds
  16. I'm building a layout loosely based on http://www.freetrackplans.com/826-Goathland.php and will run it like a station halfway along a preserved line where tokens are exchanged. That way I can run a Green Deltic with LNER teak stock etc. Just not sure how an olyimpics javelin will fit in but my 5 year old likes to see it whizzing around.
  17. mate of mine did when he had flu

  18. Pic of my Loadhaul model running in, before I knocked off a lot of tiny detailing part putting in a dcc chip
  19. The rods on mine are the opposite way up to the one on hattons website
  20. My loadhaul version has arrived. careful handling required as just getting it out of the box i knocked off the hand rails from the front end. still a small dab of glue later and all is well.
  21. ok, Dived in and bought the loadhaul version, I'm a sucker for that livery
  22. I recall they had a bunch of "seconds" on sale at warley a long with chassis, bogies and wheels, maybe worth a call to them
  23. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lima-Mk1-Sealink-Corridor-2nd-Mint-Boxed-Condition-/250759877353?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3a627412e9 Good grief, time for a retailer to do a 4 pack of Bachmann mk1's in this livery
