  1. Not saying it's windy here, but my wheelie bin is on a speed awareness course later this month!

I've just been out to my shed and found it swaying and rocking so much I think I'd end up seasick if I stayed in there more than a few minutes!

Never mind speed awareness courses - or the "rock and roll" routine - some bins round here are doing flying lessons.

I wonder if this might have anything to do with some of them containing empty Red Bull cans ... .

      OK - I get the message: Hat - coat - all gone ... .

Just been to shove my wheelies back into a corner, they were about to begin exploring the garden wall.

Sometimes, if they've not been fed recently, they're almost sentient....

  2. Or Sham Castle in Bath https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sham_Castle Constructed as a folly to look like a castle but visible from afar. It's also quite small
  3. 60? Final attempt? Just starting to have fun! Enjoy yourself!
  4. Then why is the life of the battery in an electric car predicted at eight years?
  5. Unfortunately, we are expected to throw away perfectly good cars in the 'quest' for electricity. Modern cars are not expected to last more than eight years (though mine is 15 years old!). Meanwhile, electric prices go through the roof.
  6. It's been a while since I was there! Both of these from 1978.
  7. A couple from the Ffestiniog. Tan-y-Bwlch seen in 2005, built 1971, never commissioned, used mainly for growing tomatoes (according to a friend who is a long term volunteer). And Dduallt seen here in 1971 behind Mountaineer. I was legitimately on the bridge - I was working on the deviation.
  8. Since this is the 'changing face of Bristol' I think I'm stood in the same place in 1979 looking the same way!
  9. We had a Yeti at work as a pool car - I was looking forward to taking it out. What a disappointment, very uninteresting to drive. Won't be buying one of those! We also had a Prius as a pool car - handled like a mattress at sea. If I was frugal with it (!) I could get 49 to the gallon. Trouble was my own Focus diesel estate would get mid 50s without even trying!
  10. I went there around that time but took no photos - it just wasn't photogenic!
  11. A picture from 2003, the background is full of buildings now. And under the canopy on the old parcels platform, in an area that was always full of vehicles was this sign from the past.
  12. I had a Mk 1 Cortina on which the doors shut with a very satisfying sound. Do you not remember the VW add about door shutting? Emphasis on 'Quality'! Hmm, isn't Skoda part of VW?
  13. Rather strayed from a signal box thread but Ho Hum. How about this replacement of I think the last square post signal on the WR at Yeovil PM. In 2008. Same place in 1998. And to keep the post 'on thread' the box in 2008.
  14. Looks like a perm to me, a much earlier picture in my possession (available for a fee, negative NOT available) shows straight hair!
  15. I also remember seeing Yatton at the Octagon, from the balcony one could look straight down on it. It did show how simplified the trackwork was. As for which year? I remember being at the Octagon with Burnham (P4), we had arranged for an excursion to Bodmin (P4), which comprised some through coaches. At the requisite part of the timetable, the train would leave Burnham metals, and get taken downstairs to Bodmin. Unfortunately one of the coaches was Chris Longley's, which had a habit of exploding - which it did in the hands of the late John Hayes! The look on his face when he came to apologise to be told 'oh it always does that' priceless!
  16. This layout impressed me enough to take photographs of it, but I don't think it would impress me these days! Prototype Models card kits of the station building, Superquick (?) goods shed. 1976 Victoria Rooms.
  17. I used to throw away my guides etc. somehow this one from 1979 survived. Features of that show - Castle Rackrent - The late Richard Chown Milkwood Railway - Dave Rowe Bogsworth Junction - The late Mike Sharman There were 'other' layouts. The Newport MRS were there with their follow up to 'Long Suffren' which had impressed me in previous years. When I was in their clubroom, they still had bits from that iconic layout - check your old Model Railways for a feature on the track. As for the antics of a certain young 'Not Jeremy' at a certain show at the Victoria Rooms - the less said the better!
  18. A bit of research looking at old postcards, the original box, replaced in 1944 was similar to Frome North and Frome West - both on page 37 of this thread.
  19. According to RA Cooke, new box into use 27/9/44 along with new loops. Box closed 22/1/79.
  20. Interesting thought. This picture from 1975 shows the 'coal bunker' more clearly, what do you think?
