  1. Use the steel version of the end of the chain . Much easier using a magnet on a pole, than a hook to couple up.
  2. I have read at least re wagons, that paint was mixed in drums ad hoc ,hardly a scientific process, every drum would be a different paint shade. No idea if Locos and Coaches were ever painted in any different manner?. I doubt very much that a 100 plus years ago, that shade variation was'nt rife between each batch from various builders. After cleaning with oilrags etc, etc, how much different/similar would they actually ever been?? I doubt anyone actually ever knew even then, and were they ever bothered either ?,and now all we rely on now very old samples, for any colours for anything from that time period. Prescision Paints are about as good as we will ever get now, no idea where their colours shades have actually come from, and from how long ago ??
  3. Or a J20 https://www.lner.info/locos/J/j20.php PDK models do both as 4m kits.
  4. If you have the original box , the wheels are sometimes mentioned on there on the drawing. I would think plain by the 1950's.
  5. Yes. https://www.52fmodels.org/mk3-ner-tender-chassis
  6. I have used it on my A2 and recent B16 models . No reaction to Halfords Aerosol Matt Black or Humbrol/Revell unthinned Satin Black and Red Oxide on both models. Precision Paint ok too. Sounds like it doesnt like Turps perhaps that was'nt full dry?.
  7. Sorry, a bit pointless unless you know what they already for sale. Very easy to forget something etc etc.
  8. No response to any of the Branchline emails address's I give up for now !!.
  9. I do weather wagons and a light dusting with powders on "lesser" Locos and Coaches . They are not sealed ,so that can be washed off in the future. A smaller minority on here perhaps , in the bigger world who knows !!. Thanks
  10. Can does'nt say much it mentions Acetone and a very long chemical name will type out name if needed !! Not much odour when used and intial quick drying , no mention of drying time on can.
  11. JW, No weathering to be done on the A2 . My Pacifics are always left clean ,as they will lose value if ever sold on IMHO. I have'nt used the varnish on anything else so far. What does the dirty wash consist off ?. Ta for advice.
  12. I have had a reply from Dave @ Nucast. Nu cast kits are being transfered to Brian today . Dave is about to retire. I have asked him to confirm a current email address for Branchlines . I will post any reply.
  13. I have just tried the Nucast email as well. Thanks
  14. The above Branchlines email has bounced again . Is there any other email address known please ??
  15. Nothing exciting !! Army Painter aerosol Matt Varnish on Precision Paints brush painted and Halfords Matt Black Aerosol and a lot of masking tape !! HMRS decals and lining.
  16. Comparison with the real Loco using Mike Meggison's earlier posted/shared Black/White original A2 photograph.
  17. Regards to the above C7, info from the LNER Forum. In December 1933, No. 732 had Lentz rotary cam-operated valve gear fitted. In 1934, the Uniflow No. 2212 was rebuilt without the Uniflow arrangement. Needing new cylinders, the opportunity was taken to also fit the Lentz valve gear. The rebuild appears to have taken some time, and No. 2212 re-entered service in January 1936. The Lentz locomotives were fitted with 17in diameter cylinders of the same type as used on the D49/2 'Hunt' locomotives. Anecdotal evidence suggests that the Lentz C7s ran well with a crisp exhaust beat, but the overall improvement was not sufficient for more C7s to be converted. Both kept their Lentz gear until withdrawal. These two LentzLentz valve gear locomotives were classified as C7/2, whilst the classification of C7/1 was used for theoriginal C7s.
  18. ?? no idea, if these are the ones . https://Bachmann-spares.co.uk/product/category/1080/class-57-delner-couplings-but-no-pipes-32-750/e3275-mis-06?
  19. A2 City of Kingston Upon Hull finished circa early 1930's.
  20. I cannot see how the current set up will work without a lot of cutting and ending up with a exposed motor/gearbox. Keep the motor/gearbox for a much bigger Loco. As already said look at the High Level Models site. Use a 1015 motor positioned vertically and a Roadrunner plus Gearbox. This can be set in any postion you wish.
  21. Works ok for me, just now. http://www.lanarkshiremodels.com/
  22. Has the J21 gone the same way please ?. Mike built, I believe built on his thread what is a complete version of the J21 . Agree re the grateful comment as well.
  23. Plenty still sitting on shelves in at least two Smiths that i have seen. No idea if that means no one's buying or more have been printed. The retail price is in a corner of the capital "B", in tiny numbers on the current issue, in case anyone else gets caught out.
