  1. No idea why excuses are being made or even suggested. Hornby for reasons only known to themselves have decided to rehash a very old model, and are then trying then sell it a premium price . For that money it should be a all new model.
  2. Perhaps you have missed below ? In the Kimber D20 instructions on of the page with the Backhead drawing Arthur recomends Alan Gibson 4844C 3' 8" 14.6mm. 12 spoke Plain wheels for the Bogie and mentions the tight clearances if using anything larger. He also recomends Gibson 6'8" drivers as they do not make 6'10" ones. He does'nt mention the Tender wheel size needed. I have just ordered the same Gibson 3' 8" wheels for mine, hopefully they will match the undersize ones on the Loco. My D20 is still in its box, as my Raven A2 is nearly done, it might be my next build. I have never heard of a Chivers D20 only a Chivers Q6 ?.
  3. As already said you are rolling thin metal . The big advantage for me is you can lift the rollers at any angle to see what is actually happening with the metal as the rollers turn. You are limited what you can see when its fitted into a Vice. Yes its heavy ish but the rolling takes a few minutes or less !!. Stick a Towel on your legs first will help, if needed. One tip, dont try and roll anything in one go especially with Boilers , keep taking it out of the rollers and checking as you go. Plus my small Vice is a very cold outside shed, as is my Workmate. No tittering 😅!!.
  4. No company will be so naieve. Could they ???
  5. I have never used my GW Roller in any kind of Vice, it just rests on my lap during the rolling. Its only ever rolled thin etched Brass parts without any issues . There is virtually no effort/force in rolling required. I simply just adjust the Allen Screws until the shape is right too !!. If I ever needed a Vice, as said above the Workmate is ideal.
  6. They look like HMRS decals, if they are not varnished, they will come off with a cocktail stick. Sadly that looks something like a SR M7. Loco or similar. Its nothing like a LNER G5 . One of my G5's for comparison.
  7. Indeed, I believe Roxey gave up selling the Wheels a while ago.
  8. Needs must in the real world. No idea re DCC products, as I do not have any interest in DCC .
  9. No idea either way. One of many if it is. I found a correct size motor for a Hornby Loco for £6 therin , no one else had them anywhere. A old list said £46 from the makers when they had some . No brainer for me, and the motor works far better than the original, simply because the original was fried and it actually works and does'nt try to melt the Locos body when running !!.
  10. Yes always excellent service. The problem now is a lot of his stock has sold out especially the Markits range.
  11. Ali Express is very good for Motors and various bits and pieces. https://laisdcc.aliexpress.com/store/2977030?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.f22d1802A61pjR
  12. Unlike Hornby they are probably not millions in debt ?? As to the 8F, Hornby are going to lose even more trying to sell 20 year old "updated" version at new model premium prices. Will dealers even stock them ? The same thinking the same old tat Wagons and Coaches they still churn out , no idea what the Hornby reasoning is behind them. Again do they actually sell ? At least they have finally doing a new re run of the excellent Trout Ballast Wagon from a few years ago. However Scottish Area markings and £30 a time, sorry not viable for me at least, a wait for secondhand ones on ebay in due course .
  13. I would try the Plastic sheet option as thin as possible. Paper will absorb paint, may wrinkle, shrink etc. Cheers.
  14. Do they come with pre grouping Decals?? otherwise they are not a lot of good to me without any being available. Fox Transfers do a LNER version of a different BK Diagram. There is a free 3D download of the LNER Steel version on the Internet already , there is a Decal download on the same site for the LNER version . https://www.printables.com/model/349082-oit-lnerlms-shipping-container-1-148/files No idea re any of the others versions ??.
  15. I used Gibson universal rods on my J24 Falcon Brass version. I quickly decided I did not like them at all. Much easier and far quicker to mix two sets of Gibson Rods etches to get the correct two lengths needed. I found it far too easy to get the exact lengths wrong on the Universal etched version, then try to correct. Is there any reason why you appear to added a "bar/strip " 2/3rds up on from the bottom of the side of the D20 Tender. LNER G.S Tenders had a additional thin cover on the whole of the Coal plate area, no more than 0.5mm or less thick in all the models I have ever seen. The D20 version looks no different in photos to the normal G.S version?.
  16. Works for me. https://niumodels.co.uk/
  17. Now working , thanks.
  18. Link on entering says " Invalid Signature" ??
  19. Or Are they getting pop ups elsewhere as well ??? Nowt on Apple Mac.
  20. A2 being painted. Current A2 chassis running in with a High Level Gearbox and Motor. Some photos of my previous DJH A2 build City Of Durham from 2008 . Chassis on this is a Comet Box and Mashima Motor. DJH designed the kit as a split chassis hence the wiring on the City of Durham's chassis, DJH supplied Live and Insulated Drivers in both kits. I decided on the City of Hull Hull chassis, to just add pick ups to the Insulated side of the Drivers and a wire direct to the live chassis much quicker and works just as well.
  21. I had a PM on here a couple of days ago from NIU , try sending a PM on here.
  22. I would suggest new wheelset . The Gear is knackered and i doubt glue will hold it for very long. https://Bachmann-spares.co.uk/product/category/833/7f-wheelset---black-31-010/e3101-103-01
  23. No idea , his daughter Janet is helping him re the kits. I suggest a email to her.
  24. These may help O gauge with kit photos https://www.ellisclarktrains.co.uk/products/dmr-products-o-gauge-4mr-t4-lner-3500g-g-standard-tender-kit-1 A pending? 4mm kit of the same make. https://www.phoenix-paints.co.uk/products/4-20278 Dave Bradwell does a superb kit as well. https://traders.scalefour.org/DaveBradwell/locos-tenders/
