  1. If you buy a faulty one from new or while under warranty they replace it. We dont know what happened to that particular loco and why it is being sold on damaged. No one is forced to buy it if they are worried they can't repair it. Edit: Simon is clearly more patient with conspiracy theorists than me!
  2. Video from Dapol of the production sample https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiQsSxW-NT4&t=298s
  3. Cheers. I got away with the missing couplings then!
  4. Does anyone know what diagram the Peco 7mm kit covers? These are much earlier than my usual period but it will be a one off so I cant really justify trying to get the books.
  5. The small fleet of Dapol/Lionheart mineral wagons is finished. I ended up very carefully repainting over the grey using a fine brush, as the JLTRT rattle can I had used didn't look right to me. I have a old Peco kit to build which will make an older bottom door variant but will be finished in pretty good nick, based on a photo I found of one at St Blazey.
  6. There are some on Amazon listed as 1:50 that are over half the length of a box which says it is 7 inches long. In 1:43 should be about 4 or 5 cm long I'd have thought.
  7. Someone interested in it probably placed an early bid knowing that makes the offer option fall away, to stop anyone else from making an inflated offer the seller couldn't refuse.
  8. Good point, well made! I rest my case. It's hard enough deciphering which 86 people are talking about without chucking in a different class altogether.
  9. Not in any way taking sides but this highlights why some manufacturers have said that the comments can be a minefield they'd rather avoid: I've read other people who claim to have sanded through the paint and were equally adamant it was not electric! ps no wish to re-open this debate - merely giving an example of the conflicting info they have to sift through.
  10. All of my neighbours have noisy work done throughout the time I have been stuck at home. As a result my amplifier has slowly increased from 1 to 11.
  11. I would argue yes! Theres a whole section of the forum on track and most of the layout builds I read discuss the merits of handbuilt track, point rodding and prototypical safety features etc.
  12. 1/50 is much smaller, not bigger. A lorry with a driver posed alongside would be very obviously too small for example. That doesnt mean every model is accurate of course.
  13. Similarly i was asking about lamp irons the other day and just noticed CRT do them after i shelled out on Slaters!
  14. CRT on their compensation unit etch https://www.crtkits.co.uk/index.php/9/94114/
  15. I think theoretically the physics says it is rubbish but fortunately no one has told Jimmy Anderson that! Conversely of course, everyone knows a shiny new bike goes faster.
  16. In cricket, I believe reverse swing, when the ball is older, involves the rougher side going through the air faster than the highly polished shiny side (hence reverse).
  17. I stripped a Dapol brake van in IPA and the lettering came off well before it had any impact at all on the body colour. No guarantee that would work when needed of course!
  18. I must put some shots up but I've been working on a second hand ABS LNER high goods which I picked up for £15: generally in pretty good shape but was missing the yokes. I confess I was going to make do with just the visible rod between the brake arms but I have a slightly looser attitude to the underside detail!
  19. Hi, About half way down the text it says price list (underlined) and still links to the old one, so you've got both up at the moment!
  20. For what its worth my Dapol locos (14xx, 57xx, 08) all run impeccably smoothly and if I had one that didnt, I would check it is actually ok before modifying it.
  21. I live in West London on the Greenford branch right next to the old GWR sports ground but mum lives in Allbrook. I got drenched just cycling the couple of km from parkway up Twyford road!
  22. Not a phrase you hear often! I'm heading there now to see parents and I suspect I'm going to get very wet.
  23. I do like that carflat. Did your Wayoh bogies turn up? I've just got some GWR 9 foot Americans and the cast sides are a different wheelbase to the brass etch (the sides are in between 8 and 9 foot). I've got in touch with where I bought them but just interested if that's normal? Are the carflat bogies Wayoh or the Easy builds own?
  24. Funnily enough I read how to do this 2 days ago (may have been on PWR's thread come to think of it). A wooden peg, self tapped using the nut. I've never had to do this but such a neat solution I'm looking for an excuse now!
