Arthur, I believe I put my name down for a J25? Was there ever a final price given? No quibbles, just warming the chequebook.
Thanks again
Steve

Thanks John. Order being placed. Technically this may be classed as rest day working?
Oh and that's a world of gubbins I know nothing about on that website - utterly bewildering. Just hoping I've not managed to order a small power plant or 250miles of transmission cabling by mistake.

Steve, the connectors are PCB Headers and sockets. They come in strips of 20 or 32, you just snip off how many you want to make the connector you need. Bought from Rapid Online and cost about £2 a strip.
Regards John E.
This sort of thing?

Most useful. Thank you for those John. Btw - where do you get the connectors from?

They were a purposeful looking thing. Given the apparent lack of vacuum brake and their size, I take it their main role was local trip freight working? Set me thinking if I could use one too.

Blimey, caw, chuffing 'eck, blinking flip and similar expressions. Mine has arrived too and I could run out of superlatives - anyone want half a dozen unfinished mangled Bachmann bodies? Thanks for your efforts in doing this Mike, I just hope that when I work up the nerve I can do your work justice.

And so to the canopy glazing! Must admit that this has been a bit of a headache. As Geoff Taylor reminded me, anything to do with glazing needs painting first before the glass is fitted. So my first thoughts were to construct a frame of glazing bars to which the clear sheet could be added later, but it would have to be too thick as can be seen in the first pic. I then tried cutting the glazing from 20th Perspex intending to fit the bars over it but again this was unsatisfactory.
I have now decided to use the Portrait cutter to produce a self adhesive vinyl overlay for the bars stuck to slaters 10th clear sheet. The vinyl is Dark Grey matt so no painting required. The clear sheet is cut after the vinyl is stuck on. I think it works Ok!
Looking forward to a closer look..... had pondered something similar for signal box windows.

Looking very nice. Photoshop is coming on a treat. Now..... con-boxes, Locs and cable runs? Edited.... cos I forgot that "bluetooth signalling" was in its infancy in the '60s so can we book S&T for detection, rodding run and wire runs too? Oh and some where in the 4' needs at least one exploded loo roll.

Policy? Did that word exist in 1962? Can't say for sure but I think it was left to the signalmen to regulate. However, I think there was a Platform Inspector on duty at City North most of the time and he would liaise with the signalmen regarding LE moves etc. The loco working diagrams also give on and off shed times so there is some guidance.
Must all sound a bit odd to you Steve in this day of over regulation!
Regards John E.
As a tune once said.... "Bow down before the one you serve", oddly informing them it won't work, why and the ramifications on a piece of timing that was tight if it went right in a slack WTT, and impossible in one with the TSR taken out..... or if a seldom used shunt failed to come off got me my approval and a train through 3 minutes earlier than the indicated timing (and out of my hair). Given some of the other complications it's be nice just to run and regulate trains. Can Mr Sharpe CCTV the layout and we work out an internet based control system?

Just a little reminder of what it is all about. Not a WTT move but something that was set up for a photo shoot to demonstrate some signalling moves. I had to fire up the layout for the first time since lockdown began and was suitably amazed that it all worked, apart from adjusting a couple of drooping signals!!
45110 is awaiting a road back to Holbeck Shed whilst sister engine 45253 works in on a six coach from Birmingham, crossing from the Down Main to the North Arrival. In the background the North Pilot extracts a rake of empty vans from the North Carriage Sidings on to the Down Slow, whence they will be propelled back into the station for loading. Happy Days!
Proper regulating. Was there a policy, or was this sort of thing a control decision?

Can't stand Goosegogs.
Thank 4*ck you said that. I thought I was going senile, imagining that "goosegogs"were a thing (stand down Yorkshire ancestors, Linguistic honour and clarity has been established). Mr Axlebox..... re. Mr P.Maine and his opinion on Rhubarb, and derivatives. If he can't take gooseberries, as a comrade you may wish to furnish him with a goodly supply of gaviscon if reaction to goosegogs is anything to go by.

Yes, we're going to need a bigger boat...
I believe, This chap may be saying that the operations team, may be putting on weight during lockdown. That, without the fortnightly foot patrol (footplate) or stress out (signalling) or incredulity-fatigue (control) we may collectively be expanding!
-
Odd that now it's becoming "3-D" the size becomes apparent and its ceasing to be set of abstract signal box diagrams.

I've only just found this and wow and blimey. Could I put my name down for a P4 version too please? I've a choice of either a Comet chassis or Branchlines available.
-
Just stumbled across this thread. I am certainly interested, but are they capable of being regauged to P4?
