  1. I hope they haven't binned it yet , I'm the engineering support for it !!!! Seriously though your right the other dedicated A318 has just been leased to Titan. How long they keep operating the other aircraft is anyone's guess , we've heard nothing except the BA1/2 is operating for the foreseeable future. As for the cost , it's usually around the £3500-£4000 return fare , sometimes more others less . It's a lovely little service though with a really cosy exclusive feel to it and many passengers are regulars known by name. Be a shame to see it go . Never know IAG may order new C series for revamp ........
  2. I used southern pride replacement mk2 gangways when I replaced mine , they are a good fit but the lower retaining lug on the underframe has to be cut down for them to fit. Sorry I can't show you a picture as I sold my Mk2ds a few years back but believe me they transform the look at the end.
  3. Keep those great pictures coming by the way !!!!
  4. Sorry jonny777 but I think the Spantax aircraft is a Convair 990 , they were one of the last operators of the type in the world and there are still some stored at Palma in a terrible state. They are identifiable from a distance by the carrot shaped fairings on top of the wings , I believe they were called "Whitcomb fairings" and were to assist the wing aerodynamically at higher speed.
  5. Couple of weeks back the new Bombardier C series was testing into LCY , on the Saturday me and my colleague were given a guided tour of the test aircraft by the test crew , very interesting it was too and a very impressive aircraft it is . It then flew non stop to JFK with a simulated load of 40 passengers, it really looks like a game changer for airports like LCY with most of the east coast of the USA reachable as well as middle east .
  6. If that Air Europe 757 is G-BKRM , I flew on that to Dalaman in 87ish with my mum and dad !
  7. Some great pictures posted , I particularly like Phil Sutter's pictures , I remember all of those 146\rj aircraft from my time at BA Cityflyer at LCY, we used to call G-BXAS," always sick "as it was horrifically unreliable and was reportedly haunted too ! G-LCYB was one of two RJ85 aircraft we had whilst the rest of the fleet were RJ100 . They came from another carrier ( blue one I think ) and were always a bit flaky . Funnily enough though I never had any major tech issues with Swiss aircraft except for some pretty major pilot mess ups , I have some pictures somewhere showing some of these incidents, I'll see if I can find them and post them.
  8. This place is a forum of total good manners and courtesy compared to Pistonheads news/politics and economics section. It's positively toxic.....but you can't seem to ignore it . I stick to posting in the TVR forums only and leave the saddos to argue amongst themselves. I like it here , very informative with some interesting topics and a small sprinkling of humour , long may it stay that way.
  9. Ooooh 727 ......lovely aircraft ....proper shape , proper amount of proper engines..... A proper aircraft really ....last one I worked on was in Liege for TNT......miss these old skool aircraft (so does my bank balance ...plenty of overtime on them )!!!! Cheers Paul
  10. Fair points , Your first point ........that is democracy. I haven't always agreed with the results of other elections but I accept the result......that's how it works. Your second point......... the government wouldn't offer a referendum to the public on income tax it wouldn't be responsible governance , the government at the time offered the EU referendum and the rest is history , whether that was good governance remains to be seen . I'm sure you know this all anyway. Cheers Paul
  11. [quote name="APOLLO" post="2703835" timestamp="1493384810") Out - and bl**dy quickly too. I'm a Wiganer (99.99% Labour) and I'm voting Conservative, this time for a valid reason, my country's future. Brit15 This is the post of the thread .....we are going to leave the EU ....that's it . It's ALL of our responsibility to ensure the UK gets the best deal coming out of the EU for the country , I don't mean hard or soft brexit I mean real negotiation, not being worried about upsetting or appeasing different countries just to be nice or in some misguided idea that if were nice people will like us in the UK it just doesn't work like that. I wouldn't say I'm a Tory but I will vote for them in the GE simply because I believe only by solid concerted negotiation can we make the best of the situation we are in , we really don't need the likes of the Lib Dems slowing every decision down as some kind of punishment for the brexit vote . I think an awful lot of people need to realise that the people voted to leave , not the government, it's now the government's responsibility to act on the democratic people's decision. People also need to realise that by using their vote as a protest vote actually may cause problems for the country in the long run during the forthcoming negotiation and in my opinion that's quite a childish attitude to take and worst quite foolish. Cheers Paul
  12. Hi all , bit of a long shot but does anyone have 3 pairs of Hornby JCA or Lima JCA/TEA tanker bogies , (six in total happy to buy any quantity though) that they want to sell or swap etc . Needed to finish off my rake of pallet vans I have converted. Cheers hopefully , Paul.
  13. Hi Paul , like I said not a dig at you at all really , just having a rant I suppose . Sorry mate if I took your post too seriously but unfortunately I've heard and read too many comments of a similar nature that are not in jest . Anyway have a virtual pint on me ! Cheers Paul
  14. Paul , it's exactly these type of comments that drive me up the wall ! I voted out after very careful consideration to the politics and consequences of brexit for myself and my children's future . I would like to think I am reasonably smart enough to make my decision as I see fit and resent the implication that because I voted out I am some kind of imbecile/racist/little Englander and all the other insults that have been thrown at the likes of me. I am a professional man with every qualification I can achieve in my profession, have worked since the day I left school , have bought and paid for a home in one of the most expensive cities in the UK and managed to raise a family with no assistance from the state , so call me old fashioned but I truly believe that I can manage to make my own decisions in life without someone saying I'm too thick to understand today's politics. Oh and just for balance I am also the son of an immigrant who also voted for brexit. Paul this isn't a pop at you personally it's a general moan at the implications that have been thrown around all too readily. Everyone can have opinions, I will generally accept anyone's right to a different one from mine but i do get fed up with being insulted for having mine. As for the general election I think TM has pulled a smart move by calling it now although she may not achieve the majority she thinks she will get. Cheers Paul.
  15. Thanks for this topic chaps, been after some 37 horns for a while, now ordered ! Cheers Paul
  16. I used and bought via Buy and sell and although the transactions were all easily carried out it was the searching and filtering difficulties that finally switched it off for me . I can totally see Andy's points about the old classifieds though , he personally had to get involved in a sale gone wrong on my behalf and to be fair to him , it's really not what he's here for . I'll be interested in seeing what comes next and no doubt will give it a try ....but please please if you can ,get the search facility to be more user friendly. Cheers Paul
  17. I'm trying to recreate part of my younger years when I was out travelling and spotting in a sea of BR blue and grey . For example, I remember seeing a couple of 25s on a long train of vanfits in the Bristol Area ......guess what I'm running on my layout ...... a 45 on seven MK1s at Newcastle....same again. I have several other hobbies , particularly cars but nothing gives me as much pleasure as tinkering with my models or layout in the loft with the radio on and being left alone for a few hours. Maybe I'm becoming a miserable git as I get older !
  18. Another one from my time at LHR fleet support unit, this was an a320 engine drop , the IAE V2500 is a particularly awkward engine to drop in my opinion especially when the accessories have to be transferred to the new engine , the IDG is a real pain , I much prefer the cfm56 engined aircraft. Not particularly exciting but may be of interest.
  19. Another picture from work , when i worked in LHR fleet support unit , we had just finished dropping this RB211 off this 767 , it took 6 of us approx 4 hours ,without doubt the easiest large engine drop I have ever carried out. #2 on the Tristar or DC10 was a vile job !
  20. Here is an early morning snap at LCY of NA whilst I was doing the daily and etops transit check prior to release to SNN and onward to JFK.
  21. Some good advice above , I always list every item at 99p start , you pay less fees and the items pretty much always go for what they are generally worth , I have never ended up selling items at 99p ! ALWAYS get proof of postage when despatching and make sure you have in your listing the time limit you want for payment and a despatch period for example despatch within 5 days of payment. If you are worried about payments specify PayPal only but beware of PayPal fees. Good luck , it's really not that bad or hard , Paul.
  22. I think the others like Sabine and Chris Harris should be given some of the car testing , they are both bloody handy drivers. I saw Chris Harris driving a Lola T70 at the Silverstone historic festival and he was first / second for pretty much all the laps in his driving stint , he really was quick . I'll be honest , I thought Top Gear was getting pretty tired three years ago regardless of who was presenting.
  23. I must take up the point "clearly biased against Dapol " , I think that's a little unfair on most of the posters here . People have parted with a fair amount of cash for a loco that has got some pretty substantial failings and therefore have a right to comment on poor customer service etc. I don't see it being a Dapol bashing thread just some pretty disappointed modellers. I have a BR blue one and it suffers from most of the stated maladies of the model and has yet to be rectified by me , it's barely moved in the last couple of months ! I will deal with it as and when . It seems to me that all manufacturers have had some problems with models they have released , it's just how they follow up these problems that set them apart from Dapol at the moment. Hornby 31 chassis problems for example. I own models from Hornby , Bachmann , vitrains and Heljan and will no doubt buy more when they release what I want but I will be cautious about buying Dapol again until I see an upturn in their quality control and customer service. I'm not sure that's being biased , maybe just a cautious approach to previously poor service. Just my thoughts , Cheers Paul.
  24. That's actually a fascinating test ..I scored 19.....without cheating or lying !!! To be honest it's actually made me have a read up about AS and try to understand it a little better , I was always in the " another made up issue" camp , I have recently had a lot of views on mental issues I held for a long time changed , particularly autism , ( a friend of the family has an autistic child ) . To the OP , good luck and best wishes , your post has opened my eyes a little, just talking about AS has been worth it to me to learn a little more. Cheers Paul.
  25. Just got my 73 135 through from Hattons , I'm not sure what to make of this model , On one hand it's probably one of the best detailed models I have come across straight from the box with superbly applied paint and numbers etc , no bits falling off and an excellent runner. On the other hand .....those colours ..... It's weird , on its own the blue seems worse , I positioned it on my layout surrounded by Hornby Bachmann vitrains and Heljan locos and while it's definitely different it doesn't stand out as much ....I also think the lemony yellow is almost identical to vitrains yellow.....This is under cold white flo tube lighting..... I think I will keep it but I'm not sure it will have any class mates joining it . Worth £110 .....yes and no . I think Dapol need to do better colourwise as it's a shame such a nice model could be doomed to failure
